I've recorded family information that came my way since I was a teenager. Most of it was handwritten, before the computer resources were available. I'm generally interested in history, anywhere, anytime, but especially how ordinary people fit in. I find the western migration in the United States fascinating because it's part of how my family came to be who they are.|
Being outdoors has always been important to me. I enjoy walking in cemeteries, remembering my own earlier family and using my imagination to picture who these other people were, how they were related, what role they played in the place where they lived. I'm a gardener, so the greenery and flowers are worth the visits, too.
Now, through Find a Grave, I'm finding cousins I didn't know I had and some new genealogical data, too. Enjoying it thoroughly! Send me an email if you think we're related! And if you want to transfer a memorial, please ask.

Find A Grave Memorial# 101362732 Does it have an y writing of dates on the base of this memorial or is it just names?

Hi Helen! I am so excited to hear from you! Sorry it took a while to get back to you, but my 5 yer old daughter's been sick. I would love to have any information you have. I don't know much about Dad's side of the family. Grandpa Marion died before I was born and Grandma Hattie died when I was little. I have one memory of her visiting us before she died. My email is: email@example.com if you'd like to email me. So wish Dad was alive as I know he'd be just as tickled as I am to hear from you.

Thank you for taking your time to try and find Elizabeth. That is much appreciated. I have to assume that either (a) there is no marker; or (b) the marker is unreadable. You might have noticed that in section #5 that many of the markers had the grass clippings cleared from the markers. That was our work ... to no avail. Again, thank you for your note and your effort. Jody

Well, I can think of worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. :) St. Bernard's is my favorite cemetery and I used to hang out there a lot, just soaking in the peacefulness. Since they've been keeping the gate closed however, it is a pain to get in - always have to stop in middle of street, put on flashers, run over, open gate... Now when I go up there I usually just park by Sec. S in Glendale and go thru the hole in the east fence (minding the poison ivy, of course) :D
I have about 10 'unknown unknown' listings in there with a photo of a stone and a description, but I know that there are probably a few unreadable markers that I never did get posted...

Good luck :)
I've photographed the whole cemetery with the exception of a few unreadable markers. But I know that there are mysteries there yet to be solved. I know that there have to be buried stones, and I still hope to identify the unreadables one day. If you are fortunate to get a day with really good lighting conditions, something new may turn up. The best place to look for her would be the lower section of 4 and 5, down the hill. Those are mostly Hungarian, Slovakian etc. and are roughly in chronological order.

Best of success with your others projects. The requests keep coming in, even though new area names keep showing up too. Maybe you will be back when it is easier to for you.
It is a good opportunity to get out and walk around, take pictures, and do something for someone else at the same time. I enjoy each of those when I can find the time too.
Thanks for the note back, Gordon

Thanks very much for this photograph! Have created a memorial for earlier husband Arthur, changed Ada's memorial's surname in line with Find A Grave rules, and made a photo request for Arthur. Thanks also for the information on Ada's other family laid to rest in the lot.
|Gordon Svoboda||Sent you an email|
I'm following up on the introduction email I sent you. Since we are both volunteering in the Akron area, I wanted to introduce myself.
Best regards, Gordon Svoboda

Thank you so much for the wonderful photo of Katherine's headstone. She was my dad's 1st cousin and he used to talk about her and her siblings - how her older brother moved himself & his 3 surviving siblings to Ohio after their parents & oldest sibling died of tb.
Thanks so much,
