Junior genealogist - with an email address, a car and a digital camera.
Photos I take belong to the people who ask for them. You are free to do whatever you wish to with them. I ask that they not be published on pay-to-view sites.
I pay a lot of attention to the sun and try to avoid reflecting myself in any photo. That means that at times I take photos at odd angles. I will visit any given headstone a number of times trying to get the right light on it. Sometimes that doesn't work out and I file a crappy photo - when you see such a photo, please tell me to go take a better one.
I want to thank everyone who has stepped up and offered corrections or taken transfers for the cemeteries I've been working, it's been a rewarding experience.
I am in the process of visiting all of Danvers cemeteries and ensuring they are fully catalogued. I am only posting fresh photos when I think mine are better or show something different. If you object, drop me a line and we can chat.
I do take breaks and handle occasional photo requests - if you have a location, that makes it a lot more tempting. It's a challenge to walk a large cemetery looking for two headstones and then have 4 more requests for the same cemetery a week later.
I trim my messages and only leave those that I need to do something about - I'm not hating you, just trying to use the messages to advantage. (Although I think I will keep the message from Billie forever - such an inspiration)
Complete: (Using Mass Vital Records numbering) GR1 Wadsworth - added some 400 memorials and photos. In Progress Riverview in Groveland (I have some relatives there) about 80% done. St. Marys in Salem. A group of us are tackling that one. ??? St Mary Sylvan St - moderate size, but Catholic, so every headstone has 20 names. ??? Xavierian (waiting for SJP to file obits to add remaining 200+ photos) - perhaps a student project?
In Queue ??? Danvers State Hospital - finally found it! ??? Anshe Sfard - there are about 10 cemeteries back in those woods ??? Annunciation - Large
Defunct - exist in records, but not on the ground. ??? Potter's field (off Adams street, empty lot behind St Mary's, but no headstones) GR17 Pedricks Cemetery (not on FaG) (behind the high school I suppose accessible from the Rail Trail, only has one headstone which I gather has since vanished) GR10 Putnam (off Sylvan street, bodies moved to Porter's ca. 1920) GR12 Jacobs private burial ground, Gardner's Hill (have not found)
Samuel Parker Jack, Thanks for the info, its greatly appricated. Wish you well for all the early Parkers whom have helped shape this great country of ours. Would love to see a photo of the plaque. Thanks for the tremendious undertaking.....Peace distant cousin...Lawrence
Vera Jones Bright headstone I am so impressed that you found a grave stone for Vera Jones Bright in the Campo Cestio Cemetery in Rome! Thanks so much also for the additional details on its location. Fine job!
Irving Parker at Forest Home Cemetery Hi! I need the burial Section and Lot Numbers in order to take a photograph for you. This cemetery's staff does not help photo volunteers, and the burial location is not available anywhere else.
re: Parker family in Groveland No need to contact me after all. Based on the info I found here that you cataloged on Mariah Elizabeth Parker et al, the attorney doing the title search was able to find her death cert and probate .. and bring the issue to a close.
So - a big THANK YOU for the info and gravestone photo you posted!
