Thank you so much - I was doing research on this line but it isn't a direct line either so no need to transfer unless you'd like to! AFBowes

How did you get the information about Jacobs wife and his parents?

Thank you, I am researching my ancestors and I think Jacob is one of them.

RE: Veryle McGill
Hi, I was at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien yesterday. I checked Veryl's marker again and the death date has not been added. I am going to go ahead and add the marker photo that I have.

None to be Forgotten
I got through all your emails this afternoon. I went through my remaining list and crossed off 6 cemeteries I had yet to go through - all in Lucas County. I didn't have any in Wayne. My personal email is: I used to have my Find A Grave personal message screen open but I had a "stalker" (another member) sending me horribly-worded, nasty messages - sometimes 50-60 a day and had no choice but to turn it off. Find A Grave was notified and he has since been banned from the site. Now I'm a little leery of opening it again!

Update: I CANNOT get a straight answer from Find A Grave except that they tell me to enter the name exactly as it reads on the gravestone UNLESS I happen to know the person's full name so using Ray Terrill - the stone says RAY TERRILL so that is what I entered. Not knowing these folks, I can only enter what I see. Comparing the index to other records his name is listed as RAY.

If I create a memorial in Find A Grave that isn't a duplicate of an "older/previous" one, you can use the EDIT tab on the memorial page and simply make the correction in the fields outlined there. Find A Grave tells me the "original" memorial is ALWAYS kept with others being deleted. If "newer" memorials are created (say by a relative) family photos, obits, etc. and the "original" memorial also has photos, relationships, info from a local history book, etc., Find A Grave will then merge them so none of the information is lost. This also merges any flowers or messages.

I, personally, was notified a few weeks ago of the death of a very dear and very old friend of mine. I immediately went in and placed flowers and a message. I went in a week later because I thought of a more appropriate message only to find he actually had two memorials created the same day (he was an actor with one entered in his birth name and one entered in his "acting" name). When the duplication was found, Find A Grave deleted the one on which I (and 47 other people) had left flowers/messages. I bet a lot of these folks don't even realize their remembrances are now gone!

I started correcting your emails today. Let me know the name and county of any cemeteries you want me to leave alone and I will cross them off my list if they are still there. I "only!" have 254 cemeteries left to do in Iowa. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel (pun intended - ha,ha). Have to start another state soon - hopefully never to enter duplicates again!

None to be Forgotten
Just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about your messages. I contacted Find A Grave and asked them for clarification and why memorials don't show up on their index. I got a partial answer back yesterday which says:

"Hello Cindy,

Thank you for contacting Find A Grave in regards to duplicate memorials.

We understand, and regret your frustration. Unfortunately even when you search for a memorial and do not find one a memorial may already exist on the site. When this happens we will merge the memorials."

So now I know I'm NOT going crazy! (ha,ha) I hope to get the answer to the rest of my message today. If not I will send Find A Grave the list of duplicates tomorrow so they can make the merges.

This is what was posted on the Iowa Gravestone sight under her name:

I misread the above as those being her DOB/DOD - the memorial has been deleted
