Thank you for creating the memorial and for linking it to his parents. His father, Col Stephens Thompson Norvell, was my Great Uncle, a decorated veteran of the Civil War and with Teddy Roosevelt at San Juan Hill. All the best

RE: Collins Cemetery
Yes I can and will be glad to tell you how to get to Collins Cemetery.
Take Hwy. 22 east of Ponchatoula,La.about5-6 miles.
Cross the 3 bridges (one being the Tangipahoa River Bridge).
You will see a huge new sub-division on the right.
Take the next right (Lees Landing Rd.).There is what's left of Edward's Saw Mill across from this road.
Go about1/2 to 3/4 mile.
Take a right on Collins Cemetery Rd.
The cemetery is at the very end of that road.
GOD Bless.

RE: Levi Uriah Vining
Yes, we are related! We are both descended from Jeptha Vining born 1738. You are descended through Jeptha' son Uriah and I am descended through his son Thomas. I just recently made the trip to NC and followed Jeptha's wonderings through NC, SC and then GA. Please email me at and I will give you more info and more close living connections descended through Uriah and some places to go on FB.

RE: Theresia Schum
German inscriptions are very common on older grave stones in this area.

It says Hier Ruht which means here rests
Theresia Schum or something like that
Geb. 3 Sep 1841 Geb. is Geboren= born
Gestorben = died

Usually Gestorben is abbreviated Gest.

I can't read German, but after seeing a lot of these basic inscriptions you pick it up.

Hope this helps.
