PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE PHOTOS I HAVE UPLOADED and upload them anywhere, at least not without telling me what you want to use it for and getting my agreement to that. Not only is it against findagrave.com policy guidelines, it's against copyright LAW. As a practical matter, because I am researching more than just cemeteries and interested in connecting with other descendants of mutual ancestors to share all kinds of genealogy information, I want to be the one to upload my photos so that my profile link is below those photos, making it easier for others to contact me. If you want one of my photos added to a memorial on findagrave or ancestry.com, please just ask me, and I will be very happy to do so. |
Conversely, despite Findagrave.com's policy GUIDELINES (which are NOT LAWS nor findagrave's conditions for participation), I will gladly transfer any memorial I manage or created to a person more closely related to the person memorialized than I am. I am extremely grateful to the many strangers who have created memorials and uploaded photos, but I think it is more important that a memorial be managed by the closest relative, rather than only if you are descended directly from that person by 3 generations or fewer, especially as contrasted with a stranger.
On ancestry.com, I have made a very wide public tree, "Kline-Barrow & Hackard-Crisp, etc." because I enjoy these kinds of puzzles and have found that I have obtained more information about direct ancestors from distant relatives than close relatives have ever known. And, yes, I do recognize the conflict between that realization and my opinion that memorials be managed by the closest relative.
As of the autumn of 2012, I am just beginning to try to get my information, including photos, onto findagrave.com. To the cemeteries I do go to in the future, I will try to check findagrave.com for others' requests. Although our home base is in AZ, we travel most of the time, mostly in Colorado and Illinois, as well as other states our work takes us to.

|Mary YSK||RE: Hildebrands|
The reason I did not upload
William Hildbrand's picture was because Jeanie Lowe did not take the picture, and I do not have permission from the other person to submit her pictures.
Try going to the website I gave you and clicking on Betty's name, IF there is an e mail connected to it, you can ask her about it.
OR you can go through Jeanie for Betty's e mail.
sorry I can't do this one. :-(

|Mary YSK||RE: thanks & requesting your permission re: Kaiser, Hildebrand, and Sommers|
Well, I'm not the person who actually took the photo, so I really can't give you permission, I received permission from Jeanie Lowe to post her pictures on Find A Grave....
HOWEVER, I suggest you go to the site that Jeanie has her pictures on.....You can get there by Goggling: Menard Co., IL cemeteries. in the stuff that comes up go to the one that is something like: Rootsweb.ancestry.com/Menard Co. (I can never remember the exact address.) Anyway, that should get you to a listing of ALL the cemeteries in Menard Co. click on the one you want and wa la, there are the people's names & pictures.
If you right click you can get the pictures on your computer and then put them where you want. Having them on your Ancestry tree is your private use of the pictures. And that I think is a little different than posting them on Find A Grave....??
I'm pretty sure Jeanie Lowe's name is in red or blue which means you can click on it and send her a message asking about posting....
When you post on ancestry it would be good to give the address of that Menard co. cem. site....others could find it helpful too!
