Bio and Links
Bio Photo I just had my 68th birthday, <-----updated 2015. I like genealogy, and the many visits to cemeteries that I have done in my research of family history. I love photography, and have over 25 thousand photos on I like true mysteries when they have some chance of being solved. Like right now I have a picture of a headstone for Owen Masterson, but I don't know where the headstone is. Someday I will find out I bet. Note Added a couple of hours later: I found it right away! I added two pictures to it. It was the 2nd name I looked for and I found both people's headstones within a couple of hours. How cool is that?
My thousands of photos I mentioned are not all of cemeteries and headstones. They include family, horses, dogs, cats, scenery, particularly waterfalls and woods, flowers, sunrises, sunsets, and nearly anything that is legal, interesting, pretty or all three.
I have a granddaughter, and I love her to pieces, as well as her mother, my daughter. I also have a son.
I like sightseeing, exploring old roads. I like Crime Shows, both the fictional and the true ones. I live in Oregon.

Thank You!

Thank you for taking photos of my great grandparents' gravestone. It is here:

You even went back to clear the shrubbery! I am so grateful. Thank you for your extra efforts.

Oh, and her middle initial is, indeed "I" - for Isabelle. Manelvia Isabelle McDowell Schneider.

God bless. :)

Burt Smith - Memorial #17972227
I live in Richardson, Texas and for about the last year I have been working with a small group of researchers who have been researching the families and the history of the Brazos River in Bosque and Hill counties. Ultimately one of our members intends to write a book about the first settlers along the river from Smith Bend to up near where Fort Graham used to be. Just today one of our members reminded the group that we need to research Burt Smith and family, and it was then that I first became aware that Jennie Hearne was his wife. Which really raised my interest and eyebrows.

It turns out that I'm a Hearne descendant, having descended from Jennie's aunt, Mary Hearne who married John Underwood. And of course I know that Jennie was the daughter of Ebenezer Hearne the first sheriff of Stanly County, NC. Etc., etc.

It did not take me long at all to find the subject memorial and your name. I appreciate what you have written in Burt Smith's biography, and am hoping that you will have more information with which to begin our research effort on him and his family. The group that I work with tries to obtain information from original primary-sources, but it is always helpful if we can find something of a "roadmap" with which to focus our efforts. The person who brought up Burt Smith informed us that there are a number of boxes of original material stored at the Bosque County Historical Society, and in these boxes are several letters relating to Jennie (Hearne) Smith and how she got back to her family. So I anticipate that I'll be going down to Meridian, Texas to go through those boxes in the near future. I will certainly be glad to share any gems I find with you in exchange for your help in getting us started. (And I'd sure appreciate a copy of the letter you mentioned).

Memorial 23023509
First of all, thanks for all the photos you have put on findagrave. This is an invaluable site for people wanting to join genealogical organizations that require proof of birth/death but must have picture of stone.
Memorial 23023509 Clarinda Penland Wood. She was supposedly Clarinda Dix or Dicks, who married Levi E Penland in Buchanan Co MO in 1848. He died abt 1861 in Benton Co OR. This information comes from "Genealogical Material in Oregon Donation Land Claims" (online database).
Clarinda apparently married a Mr. Wood abt 1868, according to unsourced material online.
You might want to remove the "I don't know" paragraph from the memorial page and replace it with the above information.

Saint Rose Cemetery
Hi! I wondered if you would know where I could get more information about people possibly buried in Saint Rose Cemetery. I'm looking for a couple of ancestors that died in Junction City. Their granddaughter, Eva Martin married into the Wilhelm family. Thanks!

Sarah Trapp Henderson
I was just wondering if you gave permission to add your picture of Sarah's stone to Ancestry. I would like to use it but not without knowing you gave your permission.

RE: Christina Wellsher
Many thanks for making the change. As far as I can tell, the grave marker is the only place where the name is spelled "Christena." Maybe you could change the name on the Find A Grave memorial but add a note to the effect that the name as inscribed on the stone differs from most other sources. It's too bad a family member can't be contacted to help resolve the mystery.

RE: Christena Wellsher

In doing supplementary research on this person in connection with one of my memorials, I discovered that virtually every source used "Christina" except the headstone. You are right, of course, that errors creep into every place where the name is recorded (including grave markers), but in my opinion the preponderance of evidence in this case supports the use of Christina. As the memorial's manager you can examine the existing documentation and decide whether to change the spelling or keep it as is. I'm happy with whatever you decide. Many thanks!

RE: FindAGraveUser that is a BULLY
Thank you! My jaw totally dropped years ago on his first communication with me as I couldn't believe how rude, demanding & mean he was. I have never run into anyone on Find A Grave like him. Everyone else is so nice, helpful & appreciative of the volunteer hours I put in. He criticized that I didn't put "MRS" in front of a ladies name once because 'she deserves that' - even though it wasn't on the stone! He has criticized pictures, my not taking care of his edits fast enough, etc. And asked me 'to explain myself!" All in a mean tone & spirit! Your word is right - he definitely is a BULLY. I just am grateful I don't know him personally or related! Because of him I don't put my name or photo any longer on Find A Grave. Glad I am not overly sensitive & you feel the same way!
