Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.
I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thanks much for the transfer.

Patty, many thanks for the message regarding Clara MAY's "unmarked" grave. She is buried in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery per the funeral home records, so I guess the family never placed a marker or decided to bury here elsewhere.

Thank you very much for fulfilling my transfer request on Find A Grave. I appreciate your efforts in establishing the memorial originally and also your generosity in sharing memorials you are not particularly interested in. It also inspires me to reciprocate in kind when similar requests are made of me. Thanks again, Joe Sasnett

Thanks so much for the find-a-grave photos of my great-grandmother Marguerite Walker, and her daughter. I would love to be able to actually visit the cemetery some time, but have not found good directions. Perhaps you could help.
