I enjoy contributing to Find A Grave. It's a great way to create a permanent memorial of our family, friends and loved ones. |
I will be happy to transfer memorials to a family member or friend. If you find mistakes or duplications, please let me know so I can correct them.
God Bless You All,
Please stop by and visit my Dad and leave flowers if you like.
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

There is something very wrong here almost all the information is incorrect. 1st Obadiah had NO children named Mollie. 2nd Obadiah was married to Nancy until her death in 1874. So no way he had a child with Matilda in 1871. 3rd He didn't marry Matilda until 1875. 4th If Mollie was his child She wouldn't be Mollie Tatum Beverly, She would be Mollie Barber Beverly. 5th Matilda had 9 children, NONE named Mollie.

You are welcome, just wanted you to know where your relatives were. Mr. Wershow is very gracious about letting people visit. Many of the headstones are broken and he has tried to bind them together but I suspect there are many more people buried there than we know of for sure. We were looking for his brother Bennett Maxey Dell and his wife Eliza Dorothy Boston. She was my husband's GGGAunt.

Hi. I was searching for a memorial for Simeon Dell and actually found two. You have him buried in Spring Hill Cemetery. I put in a request for a photo and someone searched the cemetery but could not find a burial site. In 2014, my husband and I visited the Dell Family Cemetery in Alachua, FL and there is a headstone for Simeon Dell with the same years of birth and death. Also one for his wife, Mina there as well. The Dell Cemetery is now on private property owned by the Wershow family but they are willing to allow people to visit with permission. My husband's family married into the Dell family and we were searching for them.
Just thought you would like to know in case you didn't already.
