Please take time to read findagrave rules and please do not leave an obit on a page created by me in the flower section; Thank you.
If you should find errors in anything I have submitted, please contact me for updates and corrections. If you wish to add anything to the bio for anyone please let me know. I will be glad to add to the submissions or if in your family consider transfer to you. firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you.
It really bothers me to see unmarked graves and graves with names but no dates; makes me want to find their families; some I do, some I don't. I wish I had enough money to replace all the monuments that need replaced and add those who don't have a marker! I would happily do so. After being in some of the cemeteries and seeing how many of the monuments are due to environmental conditions, etc; it has encouraged me to photograph and get as much documentation as is there because in future years; at least what is there now will be known and people able to see on findagrave.
Mark Cook a cousin, Jan W Smith, a cousin and I have been working together on our genealogy and others the past few years. Since Jan is in the area he does a lot of photographs and Mark travels once or twice a year to do cemetery photo's also. I have taken many myself as well.
I've been working on our family genealogy for what seems a life time! I started as a youngster with my grandparents, aunts, uncles going to cemeteries taking information and visiting relatives and friends taking information. I am from Washington County, love it and miss it; however, don't like the changes!! But, it is still my home though I don't live there or get home often. I have two sons and two grandchildren and have been able to pass the genealogy "bug" to them and hope they will continue when I am no longer able or around to do so. Mary

He is my great great grandfather; would you consider transferring management of his memorial to me? There is an error in his bio: Tabitha died in 1860, (just after the birth of her 10th child), not 1899, and he married Anne Farrier in 1862.

Thanks Mary, for all your incredible work! And a special thank you for helping me connect Vashti with her father. (She was named for his mother Vashti Coleman Williamson.) I'm trying to find all Daniel Mobley Williamson's children, but it isn't going to be easy, as he had 23 with 3 wives. Octavia Chaney, Vashti's sister is my great grandmother.
|Ann Amadori||Jesse R Lamberth, ID 29902917|
Thank you for creating the memorial to Jesse Lambreth in Healing Springs Cemetery. I think this must be the wrong cemetery, however, as there is another memorial for him at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Lamberth&GSiman=1&GScid=2267611&GRid=146838444&. This one includes a tombstone picture.
You put me on the right track and I appreciate it!

|Crystal Caton Berg||Caten/Caton|
My grandpa (Troy Caton) is the son of Benford Caten, who is the son of George Washington Caten. Interesting fact: the last name was spelled CatEn in my family until Benford decided he did not like writing "e" he preferred "o".(according to my grandpa) So he just changed the way he wrote it, no legal change as far as they know. If you notice, some of the family on here spells it either. So funny! Benford married Ethel, and they had two children, Gwen and Troy. They loved spending time with family and going to church. Ethel became a great seamstress who made wedding gowns, azalea trail made dresses and all sorts of things. They also became great ballroom dancers! Benford died of cancer in the 70's and Ethel died of Alzheimer's Disease in the early 2000's.

|Sandra Mulhern||John Green - 1827-1880|
I noticed your Find A Grave record for John Green in the Green Cemetery in Choctaw County, Alabama does not have a date of death. According to his gr.gr.grandson, Don Pedro Green, Jr, he passed away sometime in 1880. His headstone was damaged and the date of death is no longer on it. I am Don Green's distant cousin and am related through John Green's brother, Christopher Wren Green.
In 2013, I traveled to Choctaw County and met a descendant of John Green, Rankin Green. He showed me around the area, and helped me to locate the Green Cemetery as well as a cemetery that belongs to a black family that had a member who was a slave to the Greens. I am in contact with one of the slave's descendants.
I'd appreciate it if you would add his date of death. You will notice that I have prepared graves for all the family members buried in the cemetery, and have taken pictures of all.

|Linda||RE: Brogdon - Charity Chapel|
Mary: I responded earlier but am not sure it was sent. My great uncle John Brogdon married Molly Greer in Brewton, Escambia County, AL in 1921. Molly was the widow of Yancy Greer and all Molly's children were by him. John Brogdon was also previously married to Ella Norris of Santa Rosa County, FL ca1900. They had 2 daughters, Bessie and Cynthia, both of whom died young. I've been told that Ella N. Brogdon lived in Mobile and died in a fire at the boarding house she ran but I have not verified this.
I've never know a "Mary Polly Greer" but so many details about her match Molly (Hodges) Greer Brogdon and also Ella (Norris) Brogdon. Notice that Molly's maiden name is spelled "Hodges."
I've been told by a member of my Brogden (name spelled differently than Uncle John's) family that Uncle John's middle name was "Franklin" but have no written documentation. Maybe his headstone is verification. Feel free to ask more questions.
