Hello, my name is Karen and I am a cemetery stalking, tombstone touring, taphophile, as well as a genealogist and memorial art photographer.

I reside in the beautiful mountains of Middleburgh, NY. I am the owner of Things Remembered Genealogy Research Services and Crushing Violets Photography.

My current research projects and of familial interest to me are the sir names: Bodmer, Lomma, Mather, Fletcher, Newman, Bowles & Moore. I am always looking for new information and I am willing to share the information that I have.

As a history hunter and genealogist I have a strong passion for preserving and sharing cemetery information.

Cemeteries are peaceful, interesting and often lovely places that hold a definitive connection to the past. Older headstones are remarkable… whether the ornate and immense of the rich, or small and simple of the poor… each one has a story if you know how to read it.

Find a Grave is a wonderful resource for folks who are doing historical research, and geneaology. If I can help others find people they are looking for while I photograph for art, history and preservation purposes I'm happy to do so.

I often take quick snapshots of stones and markers as I travel the cemeteries and check later for requests & memorials that need a photo. For accuracy, I rarely create memorials unless I have benifit of a photo. I also try and research and post factual(obituary) information if possible. Dates, maiden names, etc., if posted in the memorial but are not on the headstone were researched from obituaries or gensites.
