Bio Photo Born and raised in Van Wert County. Researching McConahay, Emery, Cochran, Weaver and Carpenter lines.

I am trying to get as many sections in Van Wert Woodland Union and Middle Point King Cemetery as possible on Find-A-Grave and take photos when I am there verifying dates, etc.

"Life is like a journey, taken on a train
With a pair of travelers at each windowpane.
I may sit beside you all the journey through,
Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should make me sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travelers; it's so short a ride."

I would be pleased to tell you how to get this. First, you should have some kind of picture application on your computer, i.e. Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or any kind of photo application. What those pictures are, are inversions of a regular photo. Do you remember when we had only film cameras and the pictures, either color or black and white, would come back from the drug store with the negatives included. At the bottom of the page - this is an inversion of the positive picture to the negative picture. I happened upon the procedure quite by chance. If you have either of the "Photo" applications, all you need to do after the picture comes up is to press Command i, on an Apple Computer and it will pop right over to the negative. If your computer is a PC, then I think it would be Ctrl i. (I would not stake my life on that last instruction, but it is one of those "do something" keys on a PC. If when you take the tombstone picture you can get some kind of shading over the inscription, this procedure will do a better job of showing the inscription. You can also get off at an angle and use the flash on your camera to give shading. If there is shading then the shade turns white on the negative and illuminates the letters. Let me be quick to say this "ain't" the answer to all the sandstone degeneration problems.
I hope you know about the "blue paper" rubbing stuff. If you can use the inversion procedure and/or the blue paper, we figure that reading the unreadable is solved maybe 60% of the time. I'm sure you know that some of them are too far gone.
Anyway, lotsa' luck and if I am able to confuse you even more, please let me know.

Yes, you are so right. I didn't have Williams spouses & children until I found census records for his parents with him, then I found one with each wife. Thank you so much for your help. You Rock! Do you want to make William a memorial at Greenlawn or do you want me to? Do you have a copy of his death cert? Thanks again =)
