Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Hi Melissa,
Sorry it took me so long to make the transfers,
after this long winter it seems to take forever to deal with the spring cleaning on the farm.
I am looking forward to visiting cemeteries as well, last year I was not able to be out there, due to health problems and I am still way behind in posting the photos I took 2 years ago. I just takes so much data to load them.
Have a great summer Ingrid

I can't thank you enough for this picture Melissa!! I thought I would never see it! George's parents died out of the country and I was hoping to at least find all their children's graves and family. They had 10 children, so far I have only 3 of them, and the family history from one great grandmother that wrote the stories down and a descendant shared it. Wonderful people like you who will go to the cemeteries and look for the gravestones (after such a bad winter) and find the precious information.

You made my year!

They had a big stone with only a little bit of info on the bottom. Kinda of!

RE: Timothy Robertson Cemetery pics
Yes you may use any of the pictures. I had fun photographing this cemetery. It is less than 1/2 mile from my inlaw's house in New Hampshire.

As far as your comment regarding the Timothy Robertson. I guess you are saying that this memorial should be two instead one person? I can split this memorial if that is correct? I didn't realize that it was two different persons. Let me know.

RE: Joseph Goodrich and wife
Thank you very much Melissa! I've been meaning to upload some pictures I took of these graves many years ago when I visited up there (I'm from Florida). I'll have to dig those pictures up -- actual film pictures -- before I had a digital camera and scan them in. Probably before Find A Grave even existed! Thanks again for the work you're doing!

THANK YOU for taking the time to photograph my requests. I know it has to be cold up your way because it is in Pennsylvania. Have a great weekend.

You are most welcome! You would be surprised just how many of these old markers are still standing. Some might be a challenge to decifer, but the late 18th century/early 19th century headstones were well made and of a durable stone. Jim
