Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.
I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thank you for taking and posting the picture of my ancestors grave marker.
|Rich Vance||Arlene Getchell Anderson|
I would have requested a photo of cousin Arlene's stone sooner, had I known she had passed. I didn't find out until you fulfilled Carl's request which had languished for 2 1/2 years.
The last time I saw her was probably at Great-grandpa Getchell's funeral in Erie in 1965. It's sad how you can so easily lose touch with family who have moved away.
Thanks again for the great photos and all you do for Find A Grave and countless families whom you've never met.
Take care and God bless,

I really appreciate you taking the time to photograph and upload their grave markers. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the photos of Thomas & Emma's gravesites. Obviously, while Emma is buried beside Thomas, a stone was never placed there. Sometimes, that happens though I know. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to do this for me. It is truly appreciated.
