Thanks Laurie for your picture, unfortunately I can't tell if he was a 517PRCT airborne during the WW2 . I'm pretty certain he is the hero I look after , same name, same Birth year, same state ... If one day you find his obit could you contact me ?

|Jack Davison||RE: El Toro Cemetery|
Who pays the fee for all the Marines buried before base closing? The cemetery at the San Francisco Presidio was made into a National Cemetery under the care of the National Park Service, as is Arlington, and Fort Rosecrans at San Diego, which I think was a closed base as was the Presidio. El Toro is not a National cemetery; if it were then there would be conditions on being interred there.There are many National Cemeteries around the country, some infinitesimally small, like the one at Ball's Bluff Battlefield just down the road from my house, with only a couple of dozen Union soldiers and about one Confederate.

Thanks for the reassurance. I have been more than a little cobfused by the implications and consequences of base closings and that is what raised a question in my mind regarding cemeteries like El Toro which was certainly a national vemetery in my mind although it was a FOd installation on a different budget. El Toro is not a commercial operation with chatges for care, since I am sure it is part of the Orange County government services.
Thank you again.

I got your message. I think the error you are referring to is the CSA. Do you know how I can get it corrected? Contact me at my yahoo account cathgen2.

Thank you for that information. Lorenzo was a distant cousin to the family. His grandmother, Mary Jane Huntress, was a sister of Deborah Huntress, our ancestor.
|Harvey Tebbetts||RE: Collins|
Orinda is my 3rd great grandmother. Her daughter Aletha is my 2nd great grandmother. Clarance was her son and Irving is my grandfather.
I have all the genealogy on the Collins family and a lot of information on Danville if you need it. I was born in Danville.

You sure can. While I took the photo I don't believe I own it outright. I was only photographing a fact and you cannot legally copy right an established fact. I have been working to photograph headstones and upload them to Find A Grave for who ever needs them. The information included with the picture is the information contained within the Andersonville database for him. Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks for the photo of the grave of Stephen Michael Oittinen.
