I prefer to limit transfers to established, regular contributors to Find a Grave who demonstrate an understanding of the FAQs and purpose of the site. Please use the SAC function (edit button on memorial) to request transfers, and be sure to let me know specifically how you are related. If you are brand new here, welcome! Folks come and go often, and I like to make sure you're going to stick around and contribute regularly before I transfer. You may want to read the "help with Find a Grave" section to understand the purpose of the site. |
I volunteer at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, and am working on photo-documenting the whole cemetery. At this point, I prefer not to transfer memorials for this cemetery (other than mandatory transfers, of course) because my research is ongoing. In the meantime, please feel free to send me as much additional info as you wish via the edit button on the memorial.

Just maybe you know where it is???
Whats odd is the same lady: Mrs Ernest B Williams ordered the marker for George Kyle same as the other Cival War vet named Pvt C.H.Kyle in 1949
Any help appreciated

Thank you. You are right. It makes sense that he would have been buried in the family plot. Thanks again for your help.
|Angie Mewbourn||E. Holland in Oakland|
I have been searching for the burial place for my 5th great grandfather for a while now. His name was Elisha L. Holland b. abt 1798 and died sometime bet 1860-1869. He was the father of Leonidas "Green" Holland who is buried there at Oakland and was also a caretaker of the cemetery at one point. Elisha lived with Green in 1860. Assuming that Elisha still lived with Green at the time of his death I would also assume that he would have been buried at Oakland. Do you think it possible that a man in his mid to late 60's would have been this E. Holland CSA? Also, can you tell me who applied for the tombstone?

That's fine. At least we have Jr.'s name straightened out now.
|Janie Light||RE: Coleman Clarke|
Here is where I got the information that his son is a Jr., so I assumed he is a Sr.:
HONOLULU, HAWAII, PASSENGER AND CREW LISTS: Name: Coleman D. Clarke, Jr.; Age: 8; Gender: M; Birth Date: 20 Aug 1939; Birth Place: Atlanta, GA; ; Port of Departure: Honolula, Hawaii; Departure Date: 22 Jul 1948; Ship: President Cleveland; Arrival Port: Yokohama, Japan; Passport No: 17231; US Address: 2421 Halelga Pl., Honolulu, T. H.;
>HONOLULU, HAWAII, PASSENGER AND CREW LISTS: Name: Coleman D Clarke, Jr. ; Age: 6; Gender: Male; birth Year: abt 1939; Port of Departure: San Francisco, CA; Departure Date: 6 Oct 1945; Port of Arrival: Honolulu, Hawaii; Arrival Date: 11 Oct 1945;
>CALIFORNIA, PASSENGER AND CREW LISTS: Name: Coleman D Clarke, Jr.; Arrival Date: 10 Jul 1950; Age: 10; Birth Date: abt 1940; Birthplace: Georgia; Gender: Male; Ship Name: Presidenct Wilson; Port of Arrival: San Francisco; Port of Departure: Yokohama, Japan; Date of Departure: 28 Jun 1950; Addr: 1183 Clifton Rd. NE., Atlanta, GA;
The only place I found the son's middle name as David was in the 1940 census. But I found the following marriage record:
North Carolina, Marriage Index: Name: Coleman Daniel Clarke Jr., resides in Atlanta GA; Gender: Male; Birth: abt 1939; Age: 22; Race: White; Spouse: Elizabeth Ann Measamer, resides in Sanford, NC; Gender: Female; Age: 21; Race: White; Marriage Date: 2 Sept 1961; Marriage Location: West Sanford, Lee, NC; By whom married/Place of Marriage: Rev. J. R. Noffsinger, W. Sanford Twp; Witnesses: Glenda Hyman, Clifford Clarke, Billie Ann Milliams; Note that Clifford Clarke is his brother;
I also found the following:
Coleman Caniel Clarke in the U.S. School Yearbooks, 1880-2012:
Name: Coleman Caniel Clarke
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1939
School: Wake Forest University
School Location: Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
Yearbook Title: Wake Forest University Yearbook, 1959
If you look at this entry on ancestry.com, it has Japan by his name. I'm assuming this is his residence.
So Jr went to college at Wake Forest which would explain why he married in North Carolina.
I also found where Jr and his wife Elizabeth divorced in 1981 in Travis Co., TX.
I also found a Clifford H. Clarke in the yearbook at Wake Forest. It also shows Japan by his name.
Does this help?

We respectfully request permission to use the entrance photo in our personal tree. Bruce has a cousin interred there and the photo will make a great addition to our tree.
Thanks for your consideration.

Thank you so much for the lookup! I would always have wondered if that was my ancestor. :-) Kristin
|Meredith Drew Trawick||RE: Schenck in Oakland|
At the Oakland Cemetery Page when I enter the surname Schenck, all 4 of the Schenck infants with parentheses are included in the list of Schencks.
Even though there aren't any gravestones showing their names, I know their first names were not "Infant" thus the parentheses.
Since two Schenck family members' initials are E. E., I will try to list them with the full names of their fathers.
