I've been doing ancestry research off & on for the last 10+ years. I'm 50 something...lol. My research is for my family and my husbands (passed away in 2001). That is when I took a break from research. Took me a while to come back.
I also do scrapbooking, am a Stampin' Up! Demonsrator, and a Thirty-One Consultant so that takes up quite a bit of time.
My mother doesn't remember much anymore, so I can't ask her for more information. Should have been asking her about her past when I could and she would have remembered more. I've been going thru old photos and many people I don't recognize. I'm sure that lots are friends, but some are probably cousins and perhaps distant relatives. Most of the old have passed away and those stories and memories are almost gone.
Don't know if my boys will ever appreciate all the work, but I do it for myself. Hope future generations will appreciate the time and work and enjoy looking back at the photos, and memories of a simpler time.
Just an FYI. I will not transfer management of someone that I have taken a photo of and input when they are in my family. If you have info and cannot add to the person, I will certainly add it for you - just ask. Please don't add a duplicate person and ask me to transfer or delete mine.
NOTE: Just want to tell everyone that posts a note of thanks, that I'm glad to help and appreciate everyones kind words. I live in Rock Island which is within a 10 minute drive to any of our adjacent "Quad Cities" (Moline, E. Moline, Silvis, & Milan in Illinois; and Davenport & Bettendorf in Iowa) - yeah I know I listed more that four cities...lol | |

 | RE: Jones Randall I understand about driving. I don't do well on long trips either -- Something about the movement of the car puts me to sleep too. In my case it may be motion sickness because on boats I go to sleep instead of throwing up -- same thing in airplanes. I too live too far away to drive (about 12 hours by car. My in-laws lived in High Point but they passed away sometime ago as did my parents. So, I have no real reason to go there except for genealogy. My wife doesn't want me driving alone that far and she doesn't want to sit and wait for me to do the work. Catch 22. Mary Louise Nance Randall was my 1st cousin 2x.

 | Jones Randall Again, Thank you for your efforts in obtaining this picture. I wonder what happened to Mary's plaque. I see so many of these like this here where the last one to die never gets their name added or they never get the death date added to the stone.

 | Erdman - Bankie/Behnke connection? I was wondering if your Erdman's are in any way related to any Bankie/Behnke's. My great-grandfather Henry Bankie/Behnke had a older half-brother named John Erdman. I was wondering they were possible related. Thanks! Sabrina Young morgauseblue@yahoo.com | | | Robin Pardus
 | Edford Cemetery Pamela, Just wanted to let you know that if you have buried at Edford, Morristown or St Johns cemeteries my cousin and I are putting together a database and collecting obits typing them into the database. If you have obits that you can share with us, type them out with your name at the end as the contributor and we would love to add them. Thanks Robin Robin59@aeroinc.net | | | Gerald Gernant
 | RE: Edford Cemetery I did not use your photos as I can remember. I took my own . | | | Gerald Gernant
 | RE: Edford Cemetery My grandmother was Pauline Erdman Gernant. Her parents were Leopold and Ottilie Redman Erdman. | | | Gerald Gernant
 | Edford Cemetary It seems that we or maybe I have duplicated a group of Erdmans in Edford cemetary. Are you related to any of them? I am related to a major part. Do we need to consolidate the listings? | | | Mark Orey
 | RE: Ralph Ignatowski My worst problem is getting staff to give you locations, not so much here locally. Last time I was on the Island there was an automated locator set up, that was nice. Someone having problems taking photos at a cemetery? Takes all kinds. Just tell them you are doing volunteer work for out of state families, tell them they are doing a wonderful job maintaining the memorials, smile and walk away. I generally take some flowers when I photograph but get odd looks when I pick them back up for the next photo. I even collect photos for cemetery staff who are very busy. Was walking through Hampton Cemetery a while back and found someone wandering about. He asked who I was looking for and he was after the same Findagrave request. We had a good laugh.
