Hi! I am Ann I have been doing genealogy for ages it seems. As someone once said, "You don't know where you're going till you know where you've been". Genealogy has taught me more history, more geography, more law, more photography and HOW TO USE A TOPO MAP, than school ever did. My ancestors stare at me through photo's asking me what I've done with my life and I am always humbled to look back and say "Not as much as you did with yours". Genealogy has even taught my husband how to ask for directions :-)

RE: Lewis Cass Richmond
Cousin,
Don't know if I have seen your reply before this and if not why I haven't, but anyway thank you for responding. Last several months a hectic time for me. Yes, I would like for you to transfer Arminta to me. I'm getting more and more into the family history and Find A Grave as well. Presently writing a history of Lewis Cass and Arminta and their family for the Martin County Historical Society for a book they intend to publish in the near future. If you would like to see it when I get a little further with it sometime this week, I could email you a pdf. Just let me know. It will have an interesting photo of the family on their porch in Inez winter of 1913 by my estimation.

John Harrison Harry Leffingwell
Hi Ann,

Just saw you're message here, Harry Leffingwell is my Grandpaw. He and my Grandmaw Allie, are buried in Union Hill Cemetery, atop Union Hill, Chesapeake Ohio. They are buried there, close to the road by the bottom of the hill, just to the left of the stairway, if I remember correctly. My Uncles are also buried there. Are you a Leffingwell family member also?

You give a DOB for him--do you have a source for this that you could share with me? I need it for a lady's DAR application. Also, can you tell me how to locate the listing of his death at Fort Delaware?
Thank you!

RE: Towles-Spurr
Ann,

This is John William Towles born 18 Dec 1869 in Owenton, Owen Co. KY. His parents are Henry and Sarah Brumback Towles.

John is my 2nd Great Uncle. His brother Joseph Mac Toles is my great grandfather. Joseph could not read or write and somewhere along the line the "W" was dropped from the spelling of our last name, so we have been Toles since the early 1900's.

John was first married to Almeda Spurr. I do not show any children between that union. I have been unable to locate her death or burial location.

His 2nd wife was Lucinda Wainscott and they had 8 children. John died 2 Mar 1931 in Jefferson Co. due to tuberculosis and is buried at El Bethel Christian Cemetery in Owenton, Owen Co. KY. His wife Lucinda lived until 1981.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Tina

RE: Emil J. Rautenbusch in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY
Hello Ann. Wow that is a mystery on why it was ordered and placed and then removed. There has to be a reason for removing a miltary stone I would think and I don't think the government would do it ( just my opinion ) Yes i remember very well having the workers did in the area for a stone thinking it might have been covered up by dirt and grass over the years, but they found nothing . It's been several years since i have been back there . I have been doing the National Cemetery by me this past year or so to make sure they have a memorial page and fullfilling requests . Have been sick this past year so have not been out much but plan on getting back to helping others . Thank you for letting me know about this and please keep me posted if you find out anything .

Sorry to report there's no headstone for Mr Redman. I'll add a photo of his burial site. He is just to the left of the marker in the foreground.
