Keeping the memory and information about our family members "alive" should be our goal.|
Unless "we" make some major contribution in our lifetime, most of the information about us is known within our own family and after several generations the information fades and then it is gone!
Thanks to Find A Grave for allowing us to share this information with each other now, and for future generations to use in their genealogy research.
November 2001: Since this is Find-A-Grave and I am still alive, I wanted to leave a message for current and future readers about "my" grave location. I have just purchased space for my mortal remains in an older community mausoleum.
Old Mission Mausoleum was started in 1918 and completed in 1954 with the addition of the fourth and final unit. The construction resulted in a total expenditure of more than one million dollars. I have researched the history of this structure and its builder of 36 years. The information along with photos can be viewed at this link.
Eternity and Me!
Sept 2014: I find it hard to write something about myself, but since I am one of those persons who never made a major contribution to the world, I will leave a short review. I have been married to the same wonderful lady for 47 years. We have two great sons' Todd and Brett, and one fabulous grandson, Tyler. My working life was spent with the Wichita Public School system (1965-1996), first as a secondary science teacher and then as a secondary building administrator. My wife and I now spend our time traveling, taking care of our grandson, and just enjoying our leisure time. Good luck in your research with your family history, and again thank you to Find-A-Grave for allowing contributions to this enterprise.
May 2009: I have just received word from the United States Department of the Interior, that my application to have the Old Mission Mausoleum placed on the National Register of Historic Places has been approved!

Have a Great day with them.
If you want another one I have a dozy for you. It is Memorial# 124530005. The only "Childers" I have left.
I was doing some Photos Requests over at Oakland Historic Cemtery in Atlanta and took this one in the Civil War area of headstones.
I do not have any "Childers" in any of my lines, but I was in the service with a Childers many years ago and that is one name I always take as I walk a cemetery.
Take care, Bud

Hi David, the obituary for Mrs. Hurd has been added to her bio. Thanks and regards, Nadeen
|chamagirl||RE: Paula Petrie's grave photo|
My pleasure, David! Paula's markers are gorgeous, especially the cross. Just FYI, Cedar Hills is probably the best maintained and calming cemetery I've ever been to! On a side note, both sides of my family are from Hutch ... have a terrific weekend!
|Bill Bates||RE: Art Dixon's memorial|
I should have listed the source. Arthur's obituary was published in The Arizona Republic on Nov. 13, 2013. The obit mentions Frances and David as having pre-deceased Art.
There's a David G. Dixon (1952-2004) (F/A/G #36486062) buried in Phoenix. . . .
I don't have any other information about the family. Sorry.
All the best, Bill
|biteyhicks||RE: Enjoyed your work!|
Thanks for the offer, David! We'll probably be there Thanksgiving so will keep it in mind. Our son and his family are parenting pre-schoolers who aren't really into the "cemetery search thing" but hope to get to see you! Happy Birthday!
