I taught Chemistry and Physics at the Middle, High School, and College levels for 35 years before retiring in 2013. I studied under Hubert Alyea who was a Grand Master Chemical Demonstrator at Princeton and the model and inspiration for Walt Disney's movie, The Absent Minded Professor. I also taught using the Alyea Method and Julius Sumner Miller type Demos.
"Chance Favors Only The Prepared Mind."
If it is green or wiggles -- It's Biology. If it explodes or smells bad -- It's Chemistry. If it doesn't work -- It's Physics.
A good teacher is one who explains a concept. A better teacher is one who asks questions about the concept. And the best teacher is one who demonstrates the concept then solicits the questions from the students ( or as Julius Sumner Miller would say, "Why is that so?" ).
Both of my Grandmothers told me in essence the following: "A person is not really gone if they are remembered and people only die when we forget them."
In 1970, seven researchers embarked on a mission to catalog the family archives and create the correct family tree for those who would follow so they would know their history. Larry Goats, Sr. was the driving force behind this project. The members were:
Clarence Earl "Pete" Goates, 1903-1982 Vera Ann Goats Strahn, 1907-2001 Louise Lorraine Goates Phillips, 1924-1984 Lawrence Sevetis Goats, Sr., 1927-2009 James Edmon Strahn, 1934-2006 Patricia Janet Goates Hawkins, 1937-2007 Wayne Goates
I was the youngest member of the group and am now the last man standing.
