 | RE: John H. Wheeler's #86402456 Gwen, I was reviewing my notes on John Henry Wheeler and I find where Kevin White, a descendant of John Henry's sister Joicy, visited John's burial site over 10 years ago. My notes say:
"He is buried near Cane River Gap, at Ogle Meadows, his tombstone and 2 other markers are fenced off; up an abandoned forest logging road; 2 Wheeler infants are buried there also. (Per Kevin White, who has visited the grave site.) His tombstone shows only his CSA unit. Obviously someone wasn't aware of or chose not to mention the fact that the bulk of his service was spent in the 3rd NC Mounted Infantry - a Union unit based in TN."
Don't know if this sheds any light on the matter for you.Added by Irene on May 17, 2013 6:28 PM | | | Irene

 | William Glenn Metcalf buried W-W? Hi Gwen:
Wm. Glenn Metcalf, s/o of K. Darleomar Metcalf and Hattie Ellen Wheeler, was born 19 Mar 1912 in Pensacola, Yancey Co.; died 02 Sep 1991 in Asheville. He usually went by Glenn. His death certificate transcription states he was buried in Wheeler-Wilson Cemetery, but neither Elaine Dellinger's inventory nor the findagrave inventory show him. To date, he is not on any findagrave indexes for NC either. Have you come across him in your extensive cemetery travels?Added by Irene on May 15, 2013 4:49 PM | | | Irene
 | RE: John H. Wheeler's grave Gwen, do you mean John Henry Wheeler who is buried at Ogle Meadows? Or Rev. John Wheeler who is buried in the Silver Cemeterey in Pensacola?Added by Irene on May 13, 2013 3:33 PM | | | SilverRose
 | RE: Thomas Silvers Got it! Came through great. Thank you so much for all the information. Much appreciated! | | | SilverRose
 | Searching for a family member Gwen, I see that you have worked with the US archives project and here. First, THANK YOU for both! Now, for my question. Records on Find A Grave show that my Family member is buried in Silvers Cemetery, Find A Grave Memorial # 60858007. However, when doing further research, there is documentation from US Veterans Gravesites that he is buried at Pensacola Cemetery in Asheville, NC. Since you are more familiar with sites in the area, what do you suggest? | | | Judy
 | RE: John Ayers Gwen, I deleted, thanks for pointing this out to me.
