Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born on 17 Aug. 1940, in Beloit, Ks., raised and educated in Cawker City, Ks. I worked in agriculture most of my adult life as a sales correspondent for a farm machinery manufacturer, owned a livestock equipment business for 15 years and before retiring worked as a farm laborer for 20 years. I've been married to my lovely wife (pictured) for 28 years. During that time we operated a small cow herd after she retired from banking. We sold the herd and now are enjoying full retirement.

John p nelson

Thank you very much for sending me the
photo of John P Nelson grave.
He was a brother of my grandfather and emigrated
- as so many others - to USA when he was 18.
So fine to see his grave.
THANK YOU AGAIN!

Ingrid from Sweden, Småland

Bunch family
Thank you so very much for your efforts to find the markers for the Bunch family. I can only assume that maybe they have been posted to the wrong cemetery?

again, thank you.

RE: Arthur Turner
Thank you for your effort and careful attention to this request. I was delighted to share your photo this a.m. with the family of the quiltmaker who included Arthur's name. At present we know very little about him. I will b visiting the National Archives next month and hope to get his widow's successful Civil War pension application filed in 1906. It will have proof of his death and their marriage. Otherwise, Arthur has been found in the 1875 and 1885 Kansas State censuses and the 1880 federal census, but not the 1900 census. His calculated birthdate varied in these from 1839 to 1842. If he was born a slave, it is quite possible he didn't know his birthdate. However the early date you have on that other grave doesn't sound right for a Civil War soldier, where the average age was 22 or a birth date around 1841 or 1842. The duty was physically demanding and those who served at 30 or over were usually on lighter duty or mounted. I don't see how a man over 50 could have done it. I'll let you know anything further we learn from the pension file. Thanks again for your great help! Suzanne A

Otte headstone
Thanks so much for searching for the Otte headstone. I was told all of the Ottes (at least 10 of them) were buried together at Reformed Cemetery along with daughter Dena and Albert Rotman. It seems very odd that there is no headstone, but I sure appreciate your trying to find it.

RE: Edward Fischer
Thank you for the names of Ed's and Rosemary's sons. They are my 2nd cousins once removed. Sorry, but I don't know the connection between the Travis family and Sue Ann Scanlon. Perhaps a married sister to Rosemary?? Thanks again. Miriam
