|I am retired. I have been doing genealogical research on my family lines for about 20 years. For the past few years I've put my research on the "back burner" but now that I've retired, I'm back into it. I enjoy going through cemeteries and each headstone tells only a very short history of that person's life. I now get to do several of my favorite hobbies, all at the same time, history, genealogy research, photography, walking through cemeteries, and motorcycle riding. |
Not all of the headstones I list are family lines. If you find a correction or have additional information, just let me know.
If you have any ATWELL'S and transfer them to me, I'll take good care of them, but I will not transfer any ATWELL'S.
In the future, please use the change buttons that FAG has provided. I do check these to see if they are correct, so if it seems to be in error, I will decline them.
I will not link unknown burials.

I forgot to ask if you could also make a picture of Mrs. Knight's headstone and add it to her page.
Thanks so much,

Can you please add a picture of the cemetery entrance to Mrs. Knight's page?

Please let me know if you find any additional information. I would really be interested to know if this is actually the W E Baston who served in the 16th Regt. I cant imagine a 14 year old being enlisted as a Sergeant.....even a 5th Sergeant. But I understand underage enlistment was very common so who knows. I cant find a memorial for a John Baston with dates that fit in Georgia or in any of the typical places (NC, SC, or Va) or even in the states that many families removed to after the war. If you find anything, please keep me posted. Thanks so much!

I am looking for W. E Baston listed on the roster of 16th Regt Georgia Infantry Company K "Ramseys Volunteers" which was organized at Columbia County, GA. as follows:
Baston, W. E.-5th Sergeant July 25,1861. Captured at Sailor's Creek, Va. April 6,1865. Released at Newport News, Va. June 25, 1865.
Surely this is not the right W E Baston as yours would only have been 14 years old at the time of enlistment?
