I noticed that you have made and have the picture on this memorial:

I am currently on a trip and found the exact same headstone which is located at this memorial:

Clearly yours was taken first, but I was wondering if you had any knowledge of the memorial moving or whether it was a duplicate placed in both cemeteries. Please let me know if there is anything you can help with.

RE: Genevieve Stanley @ Desoto
Yes, I noticed that and had the same thought; however, that could also be exactly why the person requested the photo--because they had the same question as to whether or not she had a death date inscribed, which would be good evidence of death and /or burial at Desoto. This memorial was entered by Mary Edmonds (not me) who entered the graves in that cemetery from a cemetery transcription book (complete with all the typos, lol) and which does record even those inscribed without death dates. Mary Edmonds refuses to answer any messages or edits from anyone--so again, I posted the requested photo because it may answer a question for the requester who is unable to get any answers from Mary Edmonds. Mary also does not do any follow up on the memorials she has entered to see if they are correct and complete. If it bothers you that there is a memorial for someone born in 1918 but who has no inscribed date of death, you might want to ask Mary Edmonds who posted it about that, but good luck with that one, lol. Regardless, the Find A Grave guidelines state that memorials may be entered for a person who has a stone inscribed in a cemetery and who was born before 1931, and since Genevieve was born in 1918, she qualifies--though she may indeed still be alive--or be buried somewhere else. Or she may indeed be buried there without a death date inscribed on the stone. Fulfilling a photo request for this stone may be a crucial part of the puzzle to figure out which it is. In addition to all of that, I did spend a good deal of time searching for a death record or obituary for her to see if I could find anything else definitive about her date of death or place of final disposition before I posted my photo. I did not find any. After all of that thought and consideration and research I decided to fulfill the photo request. As I said before, in the end, my thought was that fulfilling the photo request without the death date inscribed may be exactly what the requester needed. I suspect she may have remarried and died under another name--or she may still be alive--but since I don't know why the requester asked for this photo, I felt it prudent to post the photo since it might be exactly what the requester needed to know about this memorial page and dear Genevieve. By the way, you have done a lot of great work photographing in southern Illinois cemeteries, thank you! :)

RE: Hutson Browning Hill

Thanks for getting back to me. When the weather gets better lol. Go by Browning Hill and take a look. We are still working on the Cemetery. We will be putting the Hutson markers on concrete this summer. Would you have a idea where in the cemetery you first found the stones?

Thanks, Dale
