Bio and Links
Bio Photo Working and researching mostly in Houston but when I'm out and around Texas I always try to squeeze in a stop or two.

This site has been a great resource for family research and I'm very grateful for the assistance that other contributors have done.

I get out to cemeteries when I can in the hopes that my work will help another family. Please send me family connection suggestions, I think that's one of the great things about this site and really helps to get things organized.

My current family research is on the memorials in my virtual cemeteries, if you are related to anyone that I have organized into those please contact me. I would love to hear from you and compare notes!

RE: Tates in Texas
Hi, Martha - It's my understanding that "Tate" is Irish and "Tait" is Scottish, but because of intermarriages, that's probably all mixed up! My husband's grandparents were both born in the Orkney Islands off the far North coast of Scotland, and I know there aren't any Tates in that line. Wish I could help more!

RE: Arthur Lankford
Milan Lankfords are not my direct line. My 2nd g grandfather was Jasper N. L. buried at Greenwood, Hopkins Co., He was a younger son of Peter and Jinsa Washington Lankford of Tishomingo Co. MS. Peter had two wives and 17 boys many of whom settled in TX after Civil War. Does any of this ring a bell?

No - Our name is spelled differently - Tait - my husband's grandparents came from the Orkney Islands off Scotland.

Paradise Cemetery

Hopefully, I have made the memorial transfers successfully to the correct cemetery location. If you see any others that are placed incorrectly, please do not hesitate to send the information. These individuals are family friends and, like other memorials I create, I want them to be accurate... I can point out at least a half dozen cemeteries that have been created on find a grave that are in the incorrect county/location. It looks like some individuals set up cemetery sites without research or first establishing physical/visual documentation. Thanks

RE: Crawfords
Yes, Sarah "Sallie" Crawford Beard was my great-grandmother, and Mary Malinda was Sarah's mother, making her my great-great grandmother. I am related thru Sarah's youngest daughter Artie. I am in contact with several other descendants of Sarah's other children and would enjoy hearing more from you. I have numerous pics of Sarah but no one I know has much info or pic of Mary. My son took the pic of Mary's stone that I posted on Find A Grave. He said it was scattered apart in pieces and they put it together for the picture. Thanks for contacting me!

RE: Family Connection?
My Tate connection isn't ancestral, but connected to my Riggins and Davenports of Casey County

Sophia Canady Tate (wife of Charles P Tate born 1797 Kentucky-died 1871 Casey County, Kentucky) is the mother-in-law of my 2nd great uncle by her 1st marriage to Isaiah Clifton

Wilford and Stella and family, I don't have them in my database but ran across them in the Texas Death Certs when looking for information on the Tates. Am sure related somehow if they are connected to the Casey County Tates.
