Cemeteries are "a memorial and a record. (They are) not a mere field in which the dead are stowed away unknown; it is a touching and beautiful history, written in family burial plots, in mounded graves, in sculptured and inscribed monuments. (They tell) the story of the past, not of its institutions, or its wars, or its ideas, but of its individual lives,--of its men and women and children, and of its household. (A cemetery) is silent, but eloquent; it is common, but it is unique. We find no such history elsewhere; there are no records in all the wide world in which we can discover so much that is suggestive, so much that is pathetic and impressive." ~~ Joseph Anderson, American clergyman (1836-1916) |

|Jim Graham||RE: Gundersons-Bluff View|
Thanks for the offer. If you'd like I could take the Gunderson's in Vermillion but they are only related through marriage so I do not have a great connection to them.
Hey Linda, I hope this note finds you happy and well. I was looking back through my messages and saw your name. Thank you for all you did for me and my ancestors. I am very fond of you, you are very generous with your time and effort. God bless. Regards, Diane

is there any way possible to remove the listing completely? even from google? when any of my family members names are typed into google it still shows up as a listing for the entry and shows our names. when the link is clicked on the entry is gone, which is good. but that's still too much info. now our family members are linked in all kinds of databases. also can you delete these messages off your public wall. sorry to inconvenience you but my family is tired of the harrassment. i'm in the process of filing charges against their attackers.
|Chris Mayes||John Mayes|
John and Miriam Mayes were my grandparents, and I notice that you have a last name of Ames. There was a story that my dad told me when i was a kid that the family name changed from Ames to Mayes with my grandfather, and I was wondering if you knew anything of it. I know this is a long shot, but I dont have any other family left so I am trying to find some history out. Thanks in advance. Chris

|Sally Crawford Cochran||RE: Tol and Neina Crawford|
Hope you are feeling better. John M Land put the pictures of the general area where their graves are on their memorials for me. He said he couldn't find them but according to the book, they were in the same area as Tol's brother, James Crawford. He thinks they are in one of the two sets of unmarked graves around James.
