Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, POULSON, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, BARNES, MILLS, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER, RENO, GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI, HARVILL, PARKER, COLLINGS, BROCK, WEAVER and SHEPHERD. I was born in Jasper County, Missouri and have 2 sons, who still live there. I have relatives scattered here and there.|
I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical Area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).
The Find A Grave site provides a way for me to share a lifelong interest in history, of which tombstones play an inseparable role. I worked in investigations for almost 20 years, so I miss those kinds of challenges. I hope to be of some service as a volunteer, to those involved in genealogical research. While I'm new to this site, I have been doing research along these same lines for some years.
RE-USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: For now, and subject to revision if such grant is abused, I will grant blanket permission for (you) to use any photograph I have taken, as long as it is for non-commercial use and not for monetary gain, and will be used for your personal documentation only in historical or genealogical research purposes; and will not be re-posted to a subsequent website who as a matter of course, makes claim to legal ownership of photograph(s) uploaded to their site, for their own purposes. Please credit any photos so used as follows: "© Find A Grave contributor # 48190645, used with permission. [SEE: http://findagrave.com]"
Please note that I am most likely not related to the deceased person of memorials I have entered, and no claim of "ownership" is intended. In some instances, creating an online memorial at this site, just felt like the right thing to do, given the time that had elapsed since their passing. I have no way of knowing if there are living relatives interested in doing the work in maintaining such an online memorial. If you would like to have a memorial transferred to you for active maintenance, follow the suggested Find A Grave guidelines and send me a request with the details of your interest and your connection to that person.
Never mind my prior comments on the new quick-edit feature on FAG! The manager of the memorial has to check it; it does NOT work the way I thought it did. I certainly didn't intend to over-burden or cause a lot of work for anyone; I really thought it was an automated process and didn't realize that the changes I was suggesting, including such relatively simple things as plot numbers, were all going back to the original manager anyway. I certainly am not trying to pick on anyone; I was hoping to add information that would be useful to researchers and genealogists. So, Folks, if you would, would you please remember to check your "EDITS" tab on your profile every so often? I have had people tell me they didn't realize they were supposed to. If you do the edits outside of the system, they will still show up on my end as "pending." In other words, if you don't click on the tab, and then go through the steps, you can make an edit, but it doesn't clear it from the system. So, this is all much appreciated!!
Here's my favorite new "trick" from an uncooperative FAGer; declining multiple additions of plot number(s) for a particular cemetery because: "the information DIFFERS from theirs" -- (theirs is blank)!! In other words, they just don't want to change "their" memorial from the way it is now. Amazing. AND another new one; refusing addition of information that THEY already have included in the bio they wrote for the memorial, but they apparently don't like to use the "nickname" field that FAG provides for when the person was called by something different than what appears on the marker. Remember, this is not info I added, it is THEIR own info I was trying to add. Nope, declined. ! Come on people, this approaches ignorance and is just sheer non-cooperation.
Current number of pending "EDITS": 655 (As of 14 SEPT 2014)
Thank you to those who have checked and processed your edits!
Please feel free to send me corrections or additions to any entries I have created. I am a "detail" person and I prefer the records to be correct and precise. If you are requesting changes in any memorial that I have created, please list numbers for those involved and give the details and sources. Please do use the "edit" tab at the top of the memorial page in question, to request such changes.

|JoAnne Brown||RE: BALLEW, Jeff 132819569|
I could not find a Fred Ballew in the Cookson-Proctor cemetery. I believe that someone else was the intended recipient of both of your messages sent to me yesterday. It looks as if someone has put the photo of Thomas Jefferson's stone on the appropriate memorial in Cookson-Proctor, but it was not me. I posted photos of Henry Jackson and Vivian S. Ballew.
If there is anything I can help with at the Cookson area cemeteries, just let me know.
|Nancy Bushong||RE: Re: Jake Gallatin|
please send me a message listing the plot # for his grave, and I will it myself. Thanks.
|Nancy Bushong||Re: Jake Gallatin|
Thanks Wes. Sure I'll put the plot # on Jake's memorial. Yet somehow I cant seem to see any edit's you sent me.
|Nancy Bushong||Jake Galatin|
Hello Wes. My husband is a direct descendant of Jake Galatin's sister, Samantha Gallatin Bushong. I mantain his memorial #37802354 created by Diane Voegeli in June 2009. Would it possible to remove the one you created
#134643881 since the name is spelled incorrectly and would cause confusion on anyone searching for Jake. Yes, the spelling on his headstone is incorrect, yet from family records we know his surname IS Gallatin. Thank you. Nancy Bushong #47574882
|Mickie||RE: TROGLIN, Howard|
Thank you for letting me know about Howard Troglin on the site twice. I guess I thought that I hadn't added him but I had done so. I deleted 6374383 and kept the other one.
Howard was my uncle. He was one of my grandfather's brothers.
Thank you again,

Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to read my request and for the great advice! :).

|Jamie Brown||Garel R Brown|
I saw your name associated with someone I am desperately trying to find some information about. I realize this is a real longshot but if by some coincidence you do know anything about him I would really love to ask you some questions. The name is Garel R Brown 1948-1971. (West Siloam Spings OK)
I am married to his grandson and I know that it really bothers him that he knows nothing about him or who he was and no one in the family seems to know ANYTHING about him. Please let me know if you know him or know of anyone that does who would be willing to talk to me. :). Thank you for your time.

I am interested in the information you speak of, "Our People and Where They Rest". My relative, Dora Wilkins, is in White Oak Cemetery, Craig, Oklahoma.
I am wondering if there my be a Faye Barnhart there as well. She is my Great Grandmother, Dora's sister.
Thank you for the offer to share information, and your dedication.
