RE: Abigail Abi Smith-Galyon
Very interesting, thank you for letting me know!

Now I'm curious if this rumor started before or after the Galyon's made their way to Burden Kansas.

My Dad and his older brother and sister grew up visiting family in Burden as children and recall an uncle or great uncle telling the story. (Full lineage for my side is James/Sarah Galyon -> James E Galyon -> James Ray Galyon -> Don D. Galyon -> Gregory Don Galyon -> Eric Todd Galyon). As best I can tell, once Sarah Jane Hammer Galyon left Tennessee with her uncle Joel Dyer, the Kansas Galyon's had little to no contact with the original Tennessee Galyon family.

Curious if your husband descended from the Burden, Kansas Galyon's or directly from the Galyon's who stayed in Tennessee?

Thank you,

George Cofer
I should add, the SAR grave registry also states his place of death as St. Genevieve County, Missouri. My husband descends from his son, Larkin.

George Cofer
Hello Shar - Thanks for your message. My source for the location of George Cofer's burial place was the SAR grave registry records. My husband is a lineal descendant.

Pollard and Smith
I am looking for the Major Pollard who married Elizabeth Gooch. Their daughter Nancy Pollard is my direct line relative. She married William Murray Smith and they lived in Parrottsville, TN where they both are buried. Do you have any information that might help me?
Thanks, Mary

RE: John Bowser Marker

I try not to touch the stones if I can help it. I don't use chemicals, but just water and sometimes a soft brush. I don't always have them with me though. I had a large list of those I wanted to find so I didn't have the time I needed to spend on those that were more difficult to read. The mottling on some of them makes it almost impossible to read them.

I am always amazed at how some stones in the same era look almost untouched and yet others have worn to where you can barely tell that there was any inscription on it at all.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope I can help you again.

I reposted grave photos of Clara and Guy, little better exposure. I posted grave photos of Harry David, Edith G, Henry F, and Ida May Ward Myers, all of whose memorials you created. I created memorials for Norma L Myers, whose husband G. Barry is apparently still alive, there's no date of death on the stone. If they are your family I'll be glad to transfer management to you. I created a memorial for Elizabeth M Myers, whose stone is next to Harry D and Edith G, she had no memorial. I assume she must be your family. I can transfer management to you.

Give all the thanks to Denise. A nice email thanking her would probably go along way.

She helped me so I could help you.
Amazing how God works!

RE: Maude Wells
I searched thru several newspapers
St.Paris News-Dispatch, Urbana Press and the St.Paris New Era.
I looked for the surnames Gibbs, Wells & Faulkner.
I could find nothing for her under any name from 1900 to 1910. Tragic about Laura. I did find the two articles about the incident

The only documentation I have is the cemetery lot record for section 1 lot 44
This lot is owned by Samuel & C.F. Gibbs.
There are several Gibbs buried in this lot. Laura is listed as Laura Gibbs(1903) on the lot record along with Joseph L Gibbs (1903) the next grave is Maud with no death date. This is the west side of the lot.

When I review the 2002 publication by Rick Burnside (who was the caretaker at the time) he has alpha listing as this:
Wells, Maude Gibbs death May-1895

I am contacting one of my aunts who has done alot of family history up there to see if she has anything on the Faulkner and Gibbs families.
