Bio and Links
Bio Photo I really hate doing my own bio :D For a genealogist I know that is strange, but I just never know what to add and what not to! I have been researching my family tree for near 20 yrs. Genealogy runs in my blood. My family is very much involved in family history and genealogy. I started first with my husbands family, some of the surnames in his family are HOGSTON, JOHNSON, BURKE, TACKETT, HAMPTON, SANDERS,CAUDILL,POTTER, all at this point in Pike Co., Kentucky, from VA, PA, NC before Kentucky.

I am now working on my family history. Some of my surnames are MCCARTNEY, JACKSON, CUTTER, CURL, TERRY, mostly from PA to OH. OGILVIE, MENZIES, SMITH Scotland, KAYE, from England.

Married to my sweet heart 38 yrs ago (Pssst don't tell any one, but we are cousins 8th 9th and 10th giggle!) we have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Writing and music are two of my other pass times. In God I Trust and He is number one in my life!

Nancy TERRY McCartney @ 39135970
Hi Julia,

I'm 1st cousin to Nancy, and the question I just want to ask is, are you or your husband perhaps, related to the long line of Shurtz' as well?

My 2nd G-GParents are John H. and Nancy CURLE-Shurts of Holmesville, Ohio (probably buried on the George Cameron farm in Holmesville, his 2nd wife was Pheobe/Phebe(?)SHURTS, daug. to John and Nancy, my 1st G-Gfather is their son Samuel E. Shurts/z and his son Benjamin D. Schurtz is my Grandfather (my mother's Dad).

Have a Great Day, and GOD Bless!

Sorry, I don't have much, the G. is what is listed in the cemetery book. There is no marker for either Elizabeth or her son.

I am not related to Bill N Williams and I don't have additional information. If you do, I will gladly transfer the memorial or assist with any posting.

I'd be glad to, as I didn't know him. I got the info from the newspaper.

RE: Ogilvie photo at Lakeview
Julia, I was not able to find John or Mary's exact grave but the photos I added to their memorials are where they should be. If I am ever to find something else I will let you know. I also added William, Clayton and Margaret Battle. If you would like thses memorials send a request and I would happy to do so.

I did see that article. Oh well, some things are better left alone! Incidentally, that picture of my grandparents sitting on the couch was taken just a few days before my grandmother's death. I'll look around this weekend and see what photos I can find for you. I'm sure there are some of GAD2 (as we call him now!) and Grace.

RE: George A. Davis Jr
Hello Julia! So nice to find a "by marriage" family member! Of course you may use the pictures of my grandparents for your genealogy; how kind of you to ask first! However, if you give me a few days, I think I might have a few pictures of my grandfather and Grace together. Those might be nicer for your family. I have been trying to trace the Davis side of my family so I know how difficult the search can be. I am having a dickens of a time with it! Also, were you aware that George took his own life? I was not aware of that until just a few years ago. I'm not sure my mother, his daughter, was ever told. We had already moved to California. I do know it was kept quiet due to the high-profile nature of his association with the Buffalo Museum of science and the Kellogg Observatory. I often wondered if Grace ever spoke of it. Any info you may have heard about that would be greatly appreciated. I know how he did it, I just don't know what his reason was. Anyway, help yourself to the photos but give me a few days to see what I can find for you. I will scan whatever I find and email them to you. Can you give me your email address? Mine is
So nice making contact! I hope we can stay in touch!
