Georgia (Decatur, and now Cherokee County) has been home for two thirds (approaching three fourths) of my life. Two sons, three granddaughters, and three grandsons, all of whom are Georgians. |
An Amarillo, Texas native, and seven generations removed from Patrick and Margaret McCullough Phinney of Chester (District)County, SC, dating from 1786.
History at times surpasses genealogy as the greater interest. This site is a compilation of stories from individuals responsible for that history, and it never ceases to improve with each addition.
Paternal Lineage: Phinney, Crosser, Wright, McCullough
Maternal Lineage : Daniel, Newman, Talley, Magee
...I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

For the additions. I could not find him either-but just wanted folks to know he HAD been around! Not directly kin. I have been into Genealogy over 36 years, and over 20 of them professionally.
Now, since my parts are giving out (had left leg implant in Nov-others not far behind) I am not going out on the road, but I get off on tangents!!

1874-Jul- Synopsis of case heard in the July 1874 term of the Georgia Supreme Court where Elizabeth Jane Mounger sued her son-in-law Mastin H. Duke to regain control of the estate of her late husband Edwin Oscar Mounger. It was her allegation that the estate was, in fact, hers by inheritance and was only in the trust of her husband E.O. Mounger. M.H. Duke alleged that the estate was truely that of Mr. Mounger and was, by rights, due to his [Mounger's] heirs. A lower court in Randolph Co., GA in May 1874 had ruled in favor of M.H. Duke, but the GA Supreme Court reversed the lower court ruling

Not directly related. He showed up as marrying a grand niece of someone who married into my family. Looked up link info and sent it along. Thank you for linking them all. Maybe it will help someone else.

Thanks but not related. I keep going over a Ancestry FT for my deceased father in law and she is extremly distant.

St. Martins is a senior residence. I'll try to see what more I can find. Do you have the obit for Mr. Tidwell? I ran across it, but it didn't specify burial. We'll keep trying, but your speculation about not being buried at Elmwood may be correct.

TWCP, I've been doing a little digging online to see if I could find confirmation on Elmwood as the place of burial. Finally, I just called Elmwood to request a location. They could not locate a Travis Tidwell in their records. Do you think he could be listed another way?
I was surprised there was no obituary shown in The Birmingham News' index.
