Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Michael Tighe, I was born in Tacoma, Washington, but moved back to Sioux City, IA (where I was raised) when I was really young. Sioux City is located where Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota meet at a point called the Missouri River. Iowa has very bad winters, in which snapping photos in the dead of winter has it's limits in terms of Mother Nature coating the headstones with snow and Ice, and you need to literally use an ice scraper to read headstones. Due to lack of employment opportunities in Sioux City, IA, I have recently relocated to Jackson, Michigan.
I am trying to complete my Beach, Buckland, Castle, Maynard, Olson, Rose, Swan and Tighe Family Trees which encompasses the United States, Ireland, England and Norway. I got bit by the geneology bug a few years back, but didn't start contributing anything additional to my family trees until about six months ago. At the present time, (4) of my family trees go completely back to the country of origination, some of which others traced the steps of my ancestors, and some of which I traced the steps of my ancestors. It just gives such a rush when you uncover a lost family member whether it be my direct family or someone requesting a photo from a headstone on the Find A Grave website, so people in the future can learn all about their heritage that would otherwise be lost.

St. Josephs
Just to let you know that you have started a St. Joseph's cemetery in Cuming Co outside Bancroft Ne. The cemetery is in Burt Co, and is already correctly listed in Burt Co. Please look at correcting the memorials

Hi Michael,

You're quite welcome. I am not from Nebraska, but I found myself driving from Sioux City to Lincoln yesterday, and I fulfilled a few volunteer requests along the route.

The GPS coordinates of Elizabeth's grave are approximately this:
Latitude: 42.141772
Longitude: -96.495353

To find it without a GPS is rather easy, once you know where to look. In the center of the cemetery is a large statue of a soldier, and this statue is surrounded by a small fence. The Mortensen plot is about 20 paces to the east (to the left as you face the statue.) Elizabeth's grave is low to the ground, but the family surname maker is quite tall and easy to see. I included a photo of that as well.

I re-posted photographs via Memorial # 2
Thanks for the note, Michael. I hope you are doing well.
In response to your note, I found the 2nd memorial for Sylvia Chilton Cook (containing her obituary); so, I posted the pictures of her there, also. Thus, if one of the memorials is a duplicate & is later removed, the wonderful old photographs of Sylvia will survive via one of the two Find A Grave memorials.

I especially enjoy the two "outdoor" pictures of her, working in the flower garden; and, sitting on the grass. The originals are *miniature* photos, so I didn't know how they'd turn out when I scanned them; however, they ended up being my favorite pictures of Sylvia. (Because the pictures were so tiny, I experimented by blocking out the entire background with white paper before scanning the pictures, in an effort to increase the size of the tiny pictures. It worked).

I do not have Goldie's obituary. Have you come across it?

Take care, and thanks for your note.

Ada (Fate) Maynard: Thank-you for the obituary!
It's always good to hear from you, Michael. I hope all is well for you. The obit. for Ada (Fate) Maynard is greatly appreciated. I sincerely thank you for posting it. Would you mind if I add it to my family tree?

A cousin passed a picture of Solomon along to me, which I think might like to have a copy of. Would it be okay to forward the photo to you, via email? If so, which address would be best to send it to?

Peace and blessings,

I added Ada (Fate) Maynard's obit. My grandmother clipped it out of the Sioux City Journal back in 1979."

Searching for Ada's obituary.

Post Script: I've been searching for a copy of the obituary for Ada (Fate) Maynard; however, as yet, I haven't had any luck. If/when I come across it, I'll be sure to pass it along to you. :)

Photos: Chauncey C. Maynard; and, Ada (Fate) Maynard.
Greetings, Michael,

F.Y.I., I recently added two additional photos that I thought you might like to know about. These photos are for Chauncey Claud Maynard and his wife, Ada (Fate) Maynard.

I had sent the previous notes (to both you and the gentleman named Rick) regarding the photos of Chauncey Ellis Crane and his wife, because I thought that you'd both be interested in those old photos. i.e., I, personally, was overjoyed when my husband's cousin recently passed those photos along to me; and, I thought that you might like copies of them, also. Thus, I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures of Chauncey and Sophronia! Your note made my day. Thank-you, Michael).

Thanks, also, for your very kind offer, regarding a scanned copy of the "Fording" story. Yes, I would dearly love to have a copy of the story that published in the Sioux City newspaper, if you could please send it my way. The brief news article that I had found was from an 1877 LeMars newspaper, so I'm very interested to see if there are any additional details in the account published the Sioux City paper.

All for now...

Peace and blessings,

Chauncey Claud Maynard (1871 - 1947) - Find A Grave Memorial # 61387678

Margaret Beach
Michael, I just saw you post re: Margaret's death date. I imagine the cemetery has record of this, as would the court house. Unfortunately, I live half an hour away from Monroe and get there infrequently. I will keep it on my TO DO list and will try to get there (it may be summer before I do though). Good luck, Jenean
