Bio and Links
Bio Photo Upon "googling" my great grandmother's name, I found a link to a photo of her headstone on Find a Grave. I was amazed, became hooked on this site, and have been contributing ever since.

My hope is to leave a legacy here for my children, grandchildren, and others by adding data and links.

I am not trying to amass large numbers of memorials. I just try to add data. I enjoy helping others, and I appreciate that others have helped me.

I create memorials with dignity and respect for those who have passed. I will remove a memorial if it is too sensitive for you, and I will remove photos you do not want on a memorial.

Forgive me for not having all burial locations identified. It takes time to research, some whereabouts are unknown, and some obituaries/mortuaries currently do not list burial or disposition details. Those people still deserve to be remembered here.

Unless one of my memorials is my relative or close friend, I do transfer memorials if you can and will add information.

Please let me know if I have an error so it can be corrected.

I appreciate knowing about added posts to my memorials such as photos or obituary clippings that would help me link family members.

I am happy to share gravestone photos with you to use in your family albums.

RE: Edits
I misinterpreted your email. I have family in Hardin County and visit there once a month. Spent the summer taking photos in Hardin cemeteries and was searching for some way to find dates on some of the tombstones and found
Hardin County "deaths" on the internet and as a winter project, started transcribing them onto Find A
Grave. This is how the edits to you came about.

There were so many who were not on Find A Grave that I found FamilySearch.org has actual death certificates on their site that tells where each person is buried so, I have backtracked and am making an entry for everyone if I can figure out the correct cemetery. There are over 6,000 people on this list.

Should keep me busy for a while! Thanks for your reply.

Private Albanus Jenkins, Co. C, 86th Illinois
Dear Ms. Buxton, It has been some time since I wrote you and this little message leaves Peoria with prayers that it finds it's way to you and finds you doing well.
I friend of mine, with a little more money that I have, just sent me an email about a tin type he found for sale of Albanus Jenkins that was taken at Louisville, Kentucky very early in the war. He sent me a blury copy which I will add to Albanus' site. If he gets the tintype, which I am guessing will run in the $400 to $500 range, he will send me a better copy. I will then add this to Albanus' site.
I continue my search for the final resting place of the 992 men who served in the 86th Illinois. I have now been at this for 31 years. I am now down to the final 78 or so of the 992 men who served in the regiment. Of these 78, I have little or now leads on about 50 of them. The burial sites will most likely never be known by anyone except for the Lord. I hope to live long enough to find most of the other 28 or so.
I would love to do a little work on Albanus' site for a day or so. Would you consider a temporary transfer of his site so that I could do a little work on it? I will then transfer him back again.
Again, I hope that this finds you well and staying warm.
Sincerely, Baxter #47203738

RE: Edits
All of this information came from Hardin County Deaths AND the actual death records/certificate from FamilySearch.org which lists their burial locations. None of these locations are from me - they are listed in these records. I double check my edits I send.

Hope this provides the information you need.

Gladys C. Van Horsen Meyer
Thank you very much for finding, posting and mostly for letting me know where Gladys and George are. I knew George's parents were in Pleasant View Cemetery but I had no idea they were there too.
What would you like to do? You found them. All I had was information from my Aunt, what I could find on the internet and my best guess.
I can delete mine or if would not mind, I would kindly request a transfer if you are not related.
In that case, I would still delete mine.
I am in your debt.

I'd never been in that part of the cemetery before - it was getting toward dark and a little unsettling. I'll go back in the spring and see if I got everyone. That part isn't kept up real well - it's kind of sad. You have a Merry Christmas, also, and I hope we have a great spring for doing our Find A Grave hobby! :-)

Thank you! I will when I find out if they are her descendants.

Thank you for the photos of her headstone. I can't think of the words to describe my emotions when I saw them for the first time.

Waldo Otto
Hello Marilynn,
I've transferred Waldo to your care. And I just have to tell you I LOVE your memorial page for Jiffy. I have an older dog who has really slowed down and I think I will have to do this when he passes on.

Blessings,
Barb (weston04)

Pleasant View
Thank you so much for using your photos to "find" so many headstones at Pleasant View and adding their memorials to F-A-G. It's because of wonderful volunteers like you that these cemeteries get completely documented. MUCH APPRECIATED!
