I retired from the US Navy as a CAPT after 24 years service in 1997. My husband also retired from the USN as a CDR after 20 years service. I became interested in genealogy shortly thereafter, and have been searching for my families since. |
Most of my families are in SE OH and E PA. Most of my memorials are for these families, so I'm generally not open to transferring them, though I have transferred on some occasions.
I love sharing/comparing information, and would love to hear from anyone who finds my postings on this site helpful.

Which Porterfield grave would you like to transfer to me?

I photographed the grave but was unable to read the toppled one. By the arrangement, I am assuming that is a headstone for Peter Keen Ashton since the other is his wife and children.

I looked in my tree and don't have any William M. Cline. I do have a few Michael Cline'but they are all from Virginia. :(

Hi Capt. Davis,
Thanks for your reply. I'm a direct descendant of William Thomas Hill, Tabitha's brother. I'm pretty clueless on how to get past Nathaniel and Huldah. I've decided to devote some of my time to gathering as much information about their immediate family as I can until something comes up. I met face to face with descendants of their other brother Augustus. We had a very good meeting that started at lunch and ended well into the evening. I learned so much about Augustus and the stories passed down his line. I also walked away with a picture of him. Do you have a picture of Tabitha? Most everyone has the picture of Huldah and Alice, though I have my reservations about it's authenticity.
Do you know who Tabitha was named after? There was a Tabitha Hill in the Sumter/Clarendon area in 1840's who would have been Nathaniel's parent's age.
I live in Lexington, SC and I'm willing to meet anywhere to share anything I have.

I may have asked you this before, but were you able to find the grave Nathaniel's wife? Which child of Nathaniel's does your husband come from?
Forgive me if I've asked you these questions before.
