Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my ancestry for many years and found this website very beneficial. Most of my family moved to southeast Texas between the late 1800s and early 1900s. Many moved to Texas from Alabama and Georgia.

My current home is Houston TX but most of my research focuses on Matagorda, Brazoria, Trinity, and Kennard Counties in Texas.

If you find any errors with my records or wanting a transfer of ownership of a relative's record, please let me know.

RE: Garland B. Marks
It was already transferred to me, by you. :)

Now I need a merge from Jesse McWhirter...

Garland Bernard Marcovich used the surname Marks, as well. I have photos of him, and he is my gr-uncle.

Now, I am on a search for his mother's gravesite. Any chance you know where it is?

His mother is Anne LaCase or LaCaze, etc. b. Oct. 1875 d. 1903, married Brno Bernard "Ben" Marcovich. She was living in Galveston, or Sour Lake, TX at the time. I have a bad photocopy of a photo of her.

I did not know Garland well, but knew his sister Lillian.

I currently have the Marcovich/Markovich family bac to 1752, and if I could find a Latin and Italian scholar to translate my documents from Montenegro, it would be great.

Garland B. Marks
Dear Jerry,

I would really love to have a transfer of this memorial. Then, if I get the duplicate also transferred today from Jesse McWhirter, I can link Garland to his parents.

I just got photos of him with his father, (my great-grandfather, Ben/Brno/Bernard. I have just received one from his visit to his father's birth home in Croatia in 1950s.

Is he related to you? Just wondering, as I am in touch with the family in Croatia, now. I met Garland at a family reunion about 1973.

I cannot find his mother's memorial. Annie LaCase other spellings (Lacase, LaCaze, Lacas) who died 10-20-1903, age 28.

RE: Garland B. Markovich
Hi Jerry. I have this mem# with Jesse McWhirter as memorial holder for Garland Markovich/Marcovich/MARKS:

If you hold the memorial..."Yes, I will take the transfer...Garland Marks (same guy with last name change) is my great-uncle...Half-Uncle? He is the son of Ben Marcovich by his first wife, Anne La Case. I have nothing one her, other than she was from Paris, France.

I did not know Garland well, but his sister Lillian was so wonderful!

Garland B. Markovich
Hey Jerry,

I just left a note with Jesse McWhirter regarding Garland B. Marks. I didn't realize you had an older one with Markovich last name until I did a general Mark search at Sweeny Cemetery.

Garland was the son of Bernard "Ben" Markovich and Anne La Case. I have no info on her except:

Born Oct. 1875, Paris, France.
Married Ben on 9-27-1893, Galveston Co., TX.
I have a photo of her in what looks like mourning attire.

If you go to my page, the lady on the right in the funny photo, is Lillian Markovich, sister to Garland. My grandmother, Irene is a half-sister to Garland B. Marks. She spelled her last name Marcovich. I saw Lillian "Lil" several times over the years. She was so kind and adorable! I don't remember Garland, but my uncle does. I remember talking with Myrtle (the other sister)at a family reunion when I was in my 20s. I also went to her daughter's wedding, and to the Bennett home.

I asked Jesse to link them, but I guess you guys can merge the memorial?

Oddly enough, Jesse McWhirter is a link to me on my paternal side of Abbott to Briggs and McWhirter.

There is a lady named Ruth Ratliff that also has Briggs and St. Cyr. I think this confirms that somehow my paternal and maternal grandparents intermarried.

I am trying to find something on the Markovich family. Maybe an aunt will share more info. They went to Lastva, Bosnia Herzegovina, years ago...
They saw the cemetery, but didn't take photos.
