After moving around the country for 38 years, I moved home to Wilkes County, North Carolina where I grew up. I have been searching for my ancestors for almost 50 years now. A lot of the first settlers in this area (Wilkes) migrated on to Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri and many other states. I am a 6th generation descendant of Sarah Boone, the sister to Daniel Boone. |
I live within 3-5 miles of the following Baptist Church Cemeteries in the county: Big Ivy, Yellow Hill, Blue Ridge, New Hope. Stony Hill is just up the road and the Lenderman-Powell Family Cemetery is on our property.
In addition to Boone, my other surnames are: Spears, Hamby, Dillard, Cardwell, Ashley, Owens, McGee, Church, Shepherd, Cartwright, Greer and Woodie to name a few.
My grandmother told me when I was growing up ... how do you know where you are going, if you don't know where you have been... I have been chasing those ancestors ever since.
I also do Genealogy Research and would be glad to assist you.
All memorials are entered with the greatest respect.

|lalena948||Edgar Byers Father|
I was going to note this on Wilkes FB page, but thought I would here. I have submitted the father's memorial for Edgar Byers (my 2nd great uncle). The death cert is incorrect; his father was Garfield Byers (memorial# 41130905). Here is the family in 1910: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MGFS-66R
The one labelled as "Lina or Liza" was my great gma Elizabeth Hazel Byers.

Barbara, your information and memorial for one of my ancestors was new to me and I thank you for your research on the McGee family. We have talked before by email as we are connected to the same North Carolina surnames.

You're welcome. I'm happy to help.
|David Fortin||Catawba Memorial Park|
This has nothing to do with this memorial. This is a request that you are asking for at the Catawba Memorial Cemetery. In order to get a memorial from this cemetery you must do the following. First a family member must call them up to find the location of their burial. Next, you will need to supply this information on the request a photo section. You will need to know the section, row, grave # ect.ect...You must then inform them who is going to go there to take a picture for their family member.....They will not let us in without all this information. TY!
