PHOTOS: Any photo I have posted on Find-a-Grave is intended to be used...please consider this your permission to copy and/or post any of my photos.|
When I fulfill a photo request, I do not simply take a photo of the request only. I research the surname (and often connected surnames) within that particular cemetery and photograph them all when I go. And I will never, ever take just one photo within a lot. If the lot has more than one grave, they ALL get photographed since they will all be connected in some way. This allows a person to see photos of their entire family units, plus allows me to edit and link them all together when adding the photos.
DUPLICATES: I try my best to do a thorough check before entering any memorials. I will never intentionally create a duplicate, although sometimes it just happens with the delay in the Find-a-Grave system at times. Even if my memorial was entered first, I will usually delete IF the other memorial is complete.
My interest is not in numbers but in the precious souls who walked among us on this earth. However, I would appreciate your using "the Golden Rule" when asking me to delete a memorial. Most people already do and don't have to be reminded. Just want you to know that I will never intentionally be rude to anyone.
CORRECTIONS: I'll be happy to make corrections on any of my entries if needed, or I will gladly transfer memorials to family members (at my discretion when it involves my kinfolks). I would appreciate your using the "Edit" function to request corrections.
ABOUT ME: I have lived in Sweetwater, Texas all but four years of my life. A genealogy nut, I love to help people find their family information through this volunteer work.
FIND-A-GRAVE: I am the Find-A-Grave coordinator for the Nolan County Cemeteries. The Sweetwater Cemetery is my favorite (my daughter, father & grandparents are buried there).
MY FAMILIES: (just to name a few)
Cardwell * Hammond * Turner * Elam * Fry * Douglass
Hughes * Thomas * Lee * Beard * Willingham * Folmar
Free * Wyly * Bates * Stewart * Powell
Always interested in hearing from anyone with any connections to my families.
MY CEMETERY TIES: I have strong family ties to the following cemeteries:
* Sweetwater (Nolan County, TX)
* Old Bethel (Anderson County, TX)
* Frankston City (Anderson County, TX)
* Roby (Fisher County, TX)
* Rose Hill (Taylor County, TX)
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Janie: hello, I've been wondering how to
this going.. I have photos to share of the family.. I'm from Ira Cones first wife Myrtle "Dollie" Short
1876–1894. They had one child named Gladys Cone, who was given to Nancy Barnett and Melissa wheeler to raise when Dollie died in childbirth.. This is my first attempt to find any related relatives.. All that was handed down were a little collection of photos from Ira. If you could help me out, I would be more than happy. Thank you Audra

Janie: Thank you so much for the management transfers of Andrew P. Pilkington (#15517525) and his wife, Sally Etta Huffstuttler (#15517528).

Thank you so much for your valuable time in taking pictures of my father's headstone. I did not realize the condition it is in. I live in Central Texas now and rarely get back to Sweetwater. I hope to get back and clean up the memorial.
The work you are doing with the cemeteries is greatly appreciated.

Hi Janie, My name is Eldon Parker. I have sent some bio information for your consideration for the Key memorial.
A representative for me will be calling to correct names for sites in the Lone Oak Cemetery in Blooming Grove Texas. Please let me know when these corrections have been made. I just now created an acct with findagrave.

Thank you Janie, I greatly appreciate you deleting your memorial to my sister. If I would have seen yours before I created mine, I would have asked if I could have added a bio for her and some pictures of her.
I ran across Find A Grave while researching family history. It's a wonderful tool for finding our loved ones. I also found other family members that have memorials created by caring people such as yourself and ask that they transfer them to me. I am hoping to hear from them.
I am a novice at this and would welcome any advice that you care to offer. I am not sure what is mean when you say that I should add her obituary information, but hope to learn.
I know that there are some lost souls that do not have anyone and it's loving caring people such as yourself that assure they are not forgotten. Thank you for caring for my sister memory until I found her. She is home now and loved always. Our mother taught us that we stand shoulder to shoulder, and I still feel my big sister standing at my shoulder.
