I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
from the beginning…to the end.
He noted that first came the date of birth
and spoke the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what’s true and real
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read,
with your life’s actions to rehash…
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?

Sorry to be so long in sending my thanks for the photo you took for me. I've not been able to spend time with ancestry stuff for quite some time now.

Thank YOU for adding the additional information linking my Mom's sister to the rest of their family.

No, the spouse linked on his memorial page is correct. Doreen Kamppi is my 2nd cousin; Stephen was her 1st husband. Sheri and Dori are their kids together. He remarried, she remarried. :)

Hi Tom. The memorial you created for Steve in 2014 is a dupe of his memorial #76820879 created in 2011. His first wife, Doreen Kamppi, is my 2nd cousin. She just passed July 16, 2016. It would be best to delete the dupe, but upload your marker photo to the original memorial, as it's a much better, closer shot. :)
I'm related to Maxine and i was wondering if you knew the parents of Maxine.

Thank you for the compliment. I enjoy solving the mysteries. I do it at work all day long!
I have here within the last 3 -4 months solved/investigated and corrected incorrect posting of pictures of several Maple Hill burials.
I am on the board of the Huntsville Pilgrimage Association and we work very closely with Maple Hill. Right now I'm working on a 1913 mystery in hopes to get it solved by time Huntsville 200th birthday which HPA will have a huge celebration at Maple Hill.
HPA might be something that you might be interested in since you photograph at Maple Hill also.
If you are interested - I'll send the link.

Ah, I was just reminding you that you had a photo on that memorial whereas the original didn't, so when the merge happened your photo wouldn't be lost. I was just browsing that cemetery because I have family buried there, and Susan does happen to be a relative of mine through marriage. (The families are Boney/Davlin - whose memorials I see you have also taken very nice photos for, thank you!) Sorry for any confusion!
