Bio and Links
Bio Photo A native-born resident of Marshall, Texas, I have begun researching my family's gravesites in the surrounding areas. From Avinger to Upshur County to sites all over Marshall and towns in and around Harrison County. I work full-time, so I do this research when I can.

I have walked and photographed all the markers in and around Harrison County at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Grange Hall Cemetery, Marshall Hebrew, Andrews Cemetery, Macedonia Cemetery, Saint John Cemetery, Woodley Cemetery, Crockett Cemetery, Grover Cemetery, Marshall Cemetery, Berea Cemetery, Wiley College Cemetery, Gill Community Cemetery, Blocker Cemetery, Ebenezer, Crossroads, Algoma North and South, and others. If the markers are legible, I have photographed them and added them on here if missing.

I am currently working in Colonial Gardens and Powder Mill Cemeteries taking photos of all the headstones, and adding GPS coordinates when the wireless networks are available in the field (the signal can come and go if the wind is blowing too hard or a cloud is overhead sometimes out here in East Texas).

I want the memorials for cemeteries in my area to be as complete as possible for future generations.

Thanks for pointing out the duplicate burial record in the Neal cemetery. I've deleted it this morning.

Burress Gravesites
Dear Sir,
I am a descendant of Allen Dale Burress a pioneer from your community. His son William Dobson Burress is buried in the Marshall Graveyard. His wife is buried somewhere in Marshall. Her name was Eveline Burress. She was buried in a cemetery that Allen donated to the community. She died on Aug 6th, 1850. I have wondered where her grave is. If you have any clues I would appreciate the help.
On another note Allen was murdered in June of 1860 on a trip to Sulphur Spings to buy a plantation for his son Erastus. He was buried there somewhere and I don't believe that he was ever returned to Marshall. It was believed that his 3rd wife and her 2 brothers were responsible for his death. Any help with these locations would be appreciated. Have a nice day.

I am soooo glad you are finishing this cemetery. Last time I was there, which was my second time there a man who lived in a house that borders the cemetery told me to leave in a not friendly tone of voice. Kinda scary. So I never returned.

Hi Bill,

I am also researching family in Marshall, TX and found your FindaGrave photo of John W. Barrett my 4th Great grandfather/mother and uncle. Thank you very much. If not for this I would not know my 4GGma's first name, only initial. I wanted to ask if you mind if I save the picture to my Ancestry tree. I would reference your name along with the picture. If you'd rather not that's fine. Never hurts to ask :) Thanks again.

Margaret Mary Foss headstone
Thanks for the headstone photo! I was told by Margaret's daughters that there was no headstone. Looks like there is one now.
Thanks again for your help!
