Bio Photo The human stories and history that can be found in cemeteries have facinated my husband and I for years. We are happy to share this facination with the Find A Grave community. A credit would be nice but not a requirement.

William Sachs
Hi Suzy and Rob,

I finally found a birth record for William Jr. He was born Wilhelm Weigel in Muenzesheim, Karlsruhe, Baden November 19, 1873 and christened December 14th.
I know it is the right William as the record lists his grandparents, Johann Michael Weigel and Anna Maria Lepp, though no father. I assume William was not William Sachsí son or William and Elizabeth had not yet married. There is a 4 year gap between William Jr. and his next sibling so good chance he was not William Sr. biological son.

So this adds a little more weight to your William, though it would have been nice if the birth day was the same.

Getting closer,

RE: Memorial 122673077
Suzy thank you for contacting me so quickly. The information you provided did in fact help me answer my question; was Marie E. Kilquist actually Marie E. Kolquist my great grandmother. YES! Another piece of the puzzle solved. I spoke with Kendra at Fairmount and she was able to confirm the spelling....Kolquist, not the Kilquist as had been originally recorded so many years ago.
Marie E. Kolquist joined many of her family members interned at Fairmount, her daughter Margaret E., her husband Alfred P.her mother and father in law Nels & Christine and their infant son listed as child (Nels) all with the last name of Kolquist. Please update your record with the correct spelling so that another looking will be able to find her. Thank you again for helping provide the information I needed to find my great grandmother Marie. E. Kolquist.

You have added some great photos to Maggie's memorial, # 25101286, but I think the middle one needs to be rotated 90 deg to show the B.

Memorial 122673077
Hello, I've been looking for my great grandmothers grave and I believe your Memorial 122673077 might be hers. You have the name as Marie E. Kilquist 1885 DOB, 24, Sept. 1929 DOD

Is there any chance you have a typo and the name should read Marie E. Kolquist? Much of the Kolquist family is buried in Fairmount. Marie's in-laws Niles and Christine Kolquist are buried at Fairmount. In fact Christine died in 1930 not long after Marie.
I have Marie's date of birth 1882 although I believe she fudge her date of birth and possibly claimed 1886. I'm hoping she is buried near her daughter Margaret A. Kolquist who died at the tender age of 5 in 1914 and was buried at Fairmount. If you are able to confirm the spelling it would be greatly appreciated. If you have any pictures I would like to know if Marie and Margaret are close to one another. Thank you so much for providing this information. Always With HOPE, Chris Graham

William F Sachs
Hi Suzy and Rob,

First Iíd like to say I have no attachment to whether or not I end up deleting my William Sachsí memorial. I am glad you have given me the opportunity to try to get the facts straight. I do have serious doubts about my memorial as I have only found a California death record for William Sr. There are several graves in this plot with 2 people in one grave but this one has 3 which is unlikely.

I have not found anything positive yet though there are a couple of negatives for your William. According to the 1900 census William was born in July of 1773 not November. The passenger list from October 1882 has William listed as 9 years which is consistent with a July birth but not November. Also a Machinist is quite different from a mechanic though it would not be a stretch for someone to be both.

I wish there was a maiden name for your Williamís mother. Did you find anything that connected him to Sacramento? It did not appear that William and Mary had any children; is that correct?

Iíve sent a message to the contributor who created my memorial and to a cousin whose grandmother was Williamís sister. Iím not hopeful they will have any answers but you never know.

Meanwhile I am not bothered by both memorials being linked.

Best wishes

Ann Savilla Rhodes Hardesty
Ann Hardesty also had another daughter, my GG Grandmother. Her name was Mary Alice Hardesty Cotter born in 1875 and died 3-22-1937. She is buried in this same cemetery. St. Paul.
