Two of my favorite genealogy quotes are -
"Genealogy is not just a pastime; it's a passion." ~Mary Harrell-Sesniak~

"The best part about Genealogy is searching for ancestors and finding friends!"

If we have genealogical connections to the same memorial, I would be happy to exchange additional information.

My family surnames are: Hale with roots from Lewis Hale & Mary Burwell of Grayson Co., VA; Kincer with roots from Christopher Kincer & Nancy Kinser of Wythe Co., VA; Huddle with roots from Joseph Crockett Huddle

cora dell surface
Cora Dell(DeHart) Surface was my great aunt and I seen you recorded her grave on here. she is in the hurst cemetery but you have no date of death. I was wondering if there wasn't a date on the marker, They should have already put the date on her headstone cause she passed away in 2013. she was married to Jessie Surface at the time of his passing. her findagrave number is 141578235 she was the daughter of Austin DeHart 141353530 and Laura 59354974. she was the brother of James DeHart 141809432.

Sarah Jane Early Aker

Thank you so much for the birth and death info for my husband's great-grandmother. I think that I met you once when I was with my husband's cousin, Susan at Wytheville College doing research. Could you tell me how you got these dates and if you have any information on the circumstances of Andrew Thomas Aker's death. Susan had given me a copy of a note written by a relative telling the circumstances of Andrew's death and I have lost it in a computer crash and so has Susan.

Thank you again for your help. I have made a note on Sarah's site of who the information came from.

west end
I have a bad feeling I have more in West End that belong in East End. That makes 3 headstones that were in the wrong place. I guess I need to go thru my West End file and check it against East End. I could be I did not clear my camera after leaving East end before I took pictures at West End and that's how they got in the wrong file. Sorry for the mix up. I try not to make messes but sometimes stuff just happens. Tom

What is the meaning of NEW in New Tacoma cemetery that you referenced? A completely new cemetery at a new location OR a new section of the Tacoma cemetery?

New Tacoma Cemetery opened sometime in the early 1930s I suspect. That area of Tacoma - called University Place - had grown to such an extent that a new cemetery was warranted.

The old cemetery (Tacoma Cemetery) - about 10 miles away - is pretty full and also very old. For folks wanting to be near family and friends, New Tacoma would probably be their choice but there are other cemeteries, too. I have found that folks tend to be buried close by their neighborhood.

New Tacoma Cem. has thousands of graves as yet to be recorded on findagrave. I am old so I don't do this as often as I would like. Someone younger, who can bend over and properly wipe the stones before posting them to findagrave would be most welcome.

Tacoma New Cemetery (2)
Pierce County - University Place

This one is the correct choice.
