RE: Re: Edit for Hardt
Argh! The benefits of old age ... I've forgotten which Hardt this refers to and I've been up to my eyeballs in Hardts lately, nor can I find a copy of my original note to you. Did it say which memorial I was inquiring about?

RE: Adeline (Stubbs) Jackson
Thanks! And thanks so much for all you do! I am working on my Benjamin Franklin Cage Sr. line as more things get digitized every year. He is the one mentioned in Jack Jackson's memorial you have in the cemetery who married Adeline. One of Jack & Adeline's children TX DC (one who married Emil Jones which you have also documented in Peyton Cemetery) states her mother was Adaline Stubbs which I found interesting since she is colored and Mr. Jackson (JacK) Stubbs and Ben Cage Sr were white and apparently had a number of slaves over the years. I've found other records in the Museum (letters and marriages etc) on my Benjamin Franklin Cage.

Anyway, your memorial creation establishes further the fact that Ben Cage and Mr. Stubbs must have been very fond of Jack Jackson and had been with them for years apparently before moving from Dewitt county to Blanco with them in 1868 where Mr. Jackson was known for his great BBQ and worked for the bank in Blanco of 21 years. Ben Cage came to TX in 1832 and fought for the Rep of Texas and then later wars where his 2nd wife received a pension for his time and service in the Indian Wars.

Fascinating history and I want to do more research on Peyton cemetery and the Jackson descendents.

Again, thanks so much for doing a great job documenting and honoring those buried in the Peyton Cemetery!

Adeline (Stubbs) Jackson
Do you know where the birth and death info came from on Adeline (Stubbs) Jackson?

You created the memorial so hoping you could tell me where the info came from. I cannot find a Texas DC for her. I did find one in Louisiana that might be her (and maybe family brought her back to be buried by her husband who predeceased her? I think her birth year (per 1900 census and the LA Death index I found that might be her both show born in 1850 versus 1853. 1880 census said 1853, but 1900 and 1930 said 1850 (versus 1853). A DC would give a date. Are there any headstones for her or her spouse that you known of?

cut/paste of your memorial you created:
Adeline Jackson
Birth: 1853
Death: 1940

1880 Census: Adaline wife of John, black, female, age 27, married, keeping house, cannot read or write, born in Texas, Father from MIss. , Mother's place not given.

Peyton Cemetery
Blanco County
Texas, USA
