I have added these memorials, mostly from the historic cemeteries of Charleston to memorialize all the individuals who have contributed to the history of Charleston.

If I don't respond to a request for transfer it means I prefer to retain the memorial.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I found out on January 21, 2010 that internment's of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial in Charleston.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

RE: Major John Alexander Keith
Major John Alexander Keith had a grandson, Dr. John Alexander Keith, MD. The Major's son and doctor's father was Rev. Paul Trapier Keith, named for his maternal grandfather, Paul Trapier.

RE: Middleton-Cheves
Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you....the Tour in Beaufort is here:

https://allthingsliberty.com/2016/08/bus-boat-tour-swamp-fox-rides/

and the new book on the Middleton-Cheves family is here:

https://www.sc.edu/uscpress/books/2016/7646.html

I have put the book on my Christmas wish list but it looks like you could pull mucho information about your Cheves family from here.

You don't know anyone in Beaufort, SC with a guest room, do you? I'm trying to save $100/night in hotel fees and am asking everyone I know with connections in the Low Country!

I'll be in Goose Creek, SC from the 24th til I travel to Beaufort on the 28th, if you'd like to get together for a cup of coffee while I'm in the area. It would be fun to meet.

RE: Enos Reed
Good! :) Sometimes it's questionable as to which dates are the correct ones - that's why I usually offer to delete or make corrects.
Have a great day!

May I use the monument photo's that you contributed to th memorial pages of Lewis Colburn and Francis Kelley, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? (www.Vermontcivilwar.org)

You will receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.

RE: Chapin
The actual text of the suggestion should be coming to you through the "EDIT" feature. After I realized that I could simply email it to you, I attempted to copy and paste it but the suggestion is already submitted. It has to do with one sentence toward the beginning in the first portion of the bio where it states, "Thomas Chapin settled at Roxbury..." Thomas was an older brother of Samuel's and died around 1626 in Paignton, England before the Samuel came here. It seems that it should state, "Samuel Chapin settled at Roxbury..." as that arrival is well documented. However, it's just a suggestion, but based one that is based on a substantial amount of research.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Rev Edwin Hubbell Chapin Memorial# 90864932
Hello!

First, thank you for your impressive body of work here at Find-A-Grave. I'm sure that it has assisted a great many researchers and family members of those memorialized here who may or may not appreciate the effort that goes into this level of volunteer work.

Second, I wanted to bring your attention to a suggestion I just submitted to Memorial# 90864932, Rev Edwin Hubbell Chapin. Along with Rev Chapin, I, too, am a descendant of Deacon Samuel Chapin being his 8th great grandson. I grew up quite near the Saint-Gaudens statue of the Deacon in downtown Springfield and do a great deal of research at the Museum of Springfield History on the same campus.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at dave@oldbones.info.

Thanks!
