I have been working on genealogy for about 25 years. I just found out about Find A Grave a few months ago. What a handy tool this is. I enjoy going around to different cemeteries looking at all the old headstones, and taking pictures for people who might not every see the headstonesof there ancestors if someone didn't take pictures for them.|
If anyone finds an error, please let me know and I will correct it. Also anyone who would like to add something, I can also do that for you.
For over 15 years I have been seriously researching my Gibbons family, with a beginning origin in South Carolina (Joseph Franklin Gibbons 1839 and still searching for information prior to that), also researching the Paris family (Rhoda Catherine Paris) from Spartanburg, South Carolina and the Giles families from that area.
From there the search has taken me into Harlan and Bell Counties in Kentucky, and surrounding counties in VA & TN, later on to Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties in KY also. In KY families that connect with our Gibbons are: Fee's, Green, Burkhart, Hensley, Wynn, Wilson and more.
My grandfather Andrew Jackson Gibbons was born in SC, was raised and married Margaret Fee in Harlan County KY. They raised their family in Lee Co. VA. Andrew Jackson Gibbons brothers are, James Giles, John Giles, Spurgeon Gibbons, Willie Gibbons, Campbell Gibbons, Frank Gibbons II and Nathan Gibbons. No known sisters.
If anyone has information of any of these families I would be very appreciative of anything you are willing to share.
I am also working on a register for Rose Hill Cemetery in Robinson, Kansas.

Give local contributors a chance to have memorials posted to our local cemeteries. If you live in Kansas you are taking obits from area newspapers. Plus your memorials ARE NOT in complaince with Find A Grave guidlelines...

I take offense to this message that you have sent to me, as well as sending the very same message to other contributors. Is this your form of enjoyment? Referring to us as Vultures! This hardly deserved a reply, when contributors do their best to add any information available, and yet, even you, have memorials with dates unknown. You suggest we read the rules, may I suggest you re-visit the rules of common courtesy to others.

I saw that you recently made a memorial for Charles F. Marsh# 120845932. I wondered if you could link him to his parents and his wife. His parents are John Frederick Marsh # 28158608 and Louise Marsh #28158610. His wife is Mary Louise Marsh# 35816180. I was also wondering if you could transfer this memorial to me. This my mother's brother. Thanks so much.
Have a good day:)

I am beginning to see a lot of memorials posted without dates. If you don't have dates you don‘t have a memorial you have a place holder so you can add dates later. I call those people vultures circling around waiting for someone to die. There are guidelines perhaps you need to review them.
Please include at least a couple of memorial numbers to which you refer. To call someone a vulture without cause is rudeness in the extreme.
I am currently entering the roster of a cemetery that I plan to photograph as weather and my schedule permit. Many of the graves have no dates, but people with known names are buried there, and the roster includes complete plot information. These are not placeholders, and no circling, waiting for death is involved.
I am completely comfortable with doing that. And I am completely comfortable telling you to lay off of me and others.

Thank you for fulfilling my photo request for Willis and trying to find Thelma and Evelyn Thornton.
If I have a birthdate long enough ago that the person is no doubt deceased, but the dod is not engraved, yes I go ahead and post that. Not as a "place holder", but so that anyone who is looking for that person can find where they intended to be buried. Additionally, as I have time, I research to see if the person remarried and is buried elsewhere with an subsequent spouse.
If you have specific memorial numbers you would like me to double check, I would be happy to look into them.

STOP harassing me with your generalized complaint that you are sending to dozens. If you have a beef about a "specific" memorial which I can do something about, let me know. Otherwise, quit with your generalized old man rantings.
