Been doing genealogy since 2000. Been photographing tombstones since 2002.|
If you take a picture of a marker you should check the plot for other members of that family. Normally all members of a plot are family members even it they may have different surnames
To me the plot is more important then the one grave. If you find more family in the plot and want credit for them tell me and I will add the memorials and request pictures.
If I take a marker I will always check the area for more members of the family or take the others in the plot.
If you want a high-resolution image I keep the photo about a month or so. Or if local I can get them again.
Please note: Only speaking for myself and the photos that I take. Findagrave does have rules you should be aware of regarding copy or using photographs posted. Copywrite laws, etc. Please do not take this as permission for all photos at findagrave.
I am giving my permission for you to use my photos in any way you see fit for your family. To me they are just a rock with letters on them.
Request for Family Links / Transfers
I have been getting a number of weird requests in the last few months.
1. I double check all requests.
My checks many times add family links to the memorials.
2. If you tell me they are your relatives. I must assume they are my relatives too. I have the better claim. Tell me how your related!
On ancestry.com they have "U.S., Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960", don't trust the index, LOOK at the IMAGE! http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=3135

Thank you for the photo, Phillip. It was a surprise to see it shows the name of her first husband. I guess I have more research to do.
Thanks for all you do for Find-A-Grave!
You had photographed John Carrigan d. 1887, and there was a whole big issue you explained to me because the marker says carrick.... well I talked with my mother and allthough the last names are different we are fairly certain that it is our CARRIGAN! so thanks again for taking the time on the request! We sure appreciate it, and it means a great deal to my family and I!

Your normal size is fine.

Thank you. It was appreciated!

The source I have shows nn, but that could be in error. So I "cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt". What is on her family graves may be the best proof you can get. Some European names were spelled differently on immigration documents at Ellis Is.

I have my list prepared. My email address is petriemj (at) charter (dot) net. If you email me, I can send the list as an attachment.
Nice pictures. Glad you beat the snow, since the weatherman called for snow either today or tomorrow.
|Michael J. Petrie||Thanks|
Thanks for doing that. We've quite a list. We've been working on those who have died since 1990.
