Because of fires, floods and loss, I started photographing all the markers in Jackson Co Michigan in Nov 2006. We've discovered the 1927 DAR WPA cemetery transcription project didn't have anyone actually walk any of the county cemeteries. They obtained the information from cemetery records, church records and neighbors. Fortunately for all of us this included records of those graves with no markers. Most of the early cemetery records have perished along with some of the cemeteries. Hopefully, we will be able to provide info for descendants of the early/current residents of Jackson County Michigan. By using census, marriage, death and local history information we try to make our entries as complete as possible. Email with info on your ancestors and we'll add them to any of our records. We'll be happy to help you in your search. |
Currently, I'm working on adding maiden names to as many memorials as possible.
As of 22 Aug 2009 Jackson Co FAG volunteers have 66,501 burials recorded, by Jan 2010 72,323 burials and by Jan 2013 101,483 burials. Many of the cemeteries have been completed with pics.
Please request edits, corrections & transfers thru the SAC tab (edit tab on the memorial page) and not here on the home page. Remember to check the new "edit" tab on your own homepage to see the corrections/additions sent to you.
Thanks to all those FAGer's who have trusted me to take care of their memorials and have transferred their memorials over to me while they take a leave from findagrave.
Not sure why my email disappeared from the contact info: email@example.com

I forgot to add that Henry and Ann also had a daughter named Mary J (born 1865) that married John Robart. It's confusing in the census records because there is Mary J and then Jane Mary, but they are two separate children, born several years apart. I'm not sure if she is buried in this cemetery or not though as I was unable to find a death certificate for her. Thanks again for all you do!

Thank you soooo much Deb! So glad you found info for Ann. That is a treasure! :) I do have Sophia Mary Stanbridge's gravesite (married to Charles Rice Wilber) and linked it to Henry William last night (will also now add Ann) but the owner of that memorial hasn't added the changes yet. She is my husband's 2nd great grandmother. I am so excited to show this to my mother-in-law and husband.

Deb, thank you so much for all of your help and for posting the death certificate for Henry William Stanbridge. He is my husband's 3x great grandfather.
I have a document that shows an order for a Veteran's headstone for Henry [Headstones Provided for Deceased Union Civil War Veterans, 1879-1903] (it mentions the "Catholic Cemetery in Jackson) and his unit is listed as Co. D 9th Regiment as and the U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865 database lists the same company as well.
I didn't realize there had been a fire that destroyed records. I really appreciate what you are doing! I am hoping to find the burial information for Henry's wife Ann Elizabeth but I am guessing it might have been destroyed as well. I am fairly certain she would be buried at this cemetery, too.
Thank you again!

I'm working on the Alanson Arnold & Tryphosa Crapsey family. An old family tree that was given to me in the 80s shows they had a daughter Betsy Jane, b 1827 d.1871, and a son William H. b. 1837 d.1858. Are there any records that show this B. Jane Arnold memorial to actually be William's wife? Perhaps she is his sister. I can find both Betsy Jane and William H. as siblings on the 1850 census. And then Jane on the 1865 NY census living with another brother Smith King and her mother in Shelby, Orleans Co., NY. I haven't figured out who went to MI and why Tryphosa ended up there.

I want to thank you so much for all the information you provided for him and his family. I did not have any of this. I have had a hard time finding information on my mother's family all together.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Sincerely appreciate your efforts and the addition of his death certificate. Many thanks for all you do!
