What a nice gesture on your part. Thanks for letting me know.

Kenneth, I am doing research for a friend no her family. They are the John T. and Bridget Welch Shea family. I see you have a Katie and an Ellen under them as children. There is another memorial for Ellen. Her name was Ellen Shae Sisk Ladd. I do not know who Katie is. Interestingly enough in 1900 Bridget said she had 3 children living. That would have been Ellen, Michael and James. I would like more information on Katie if you have it.

Kenneth, thank you so much for letting me know about the stained glass window. It's beautiful! The next time I get up that way I'll have to go see it. Thank you again! Robin

Youíre welcome Kenneth.
I drive past West Auckland Cemetery several times a year, but yesterday was the first time Iíve been inside. With it being Mothering Sunday, it was busy; so I didnít take many photos. I still have some to add, and Iíll probably be back as itís very near an excellent farm shop.
Best wishes, DC

Thank you for the note. I had some memorials in Mount Moriah as well. Someone contacted me that they should be in Moriah. I'll try to contact Find A Grave about deleting the cemetery to avoid future confusion.

Right. The grave memorial is at the wrong locus. Ian was cremated at Glasgow, Maryhill Crematorium. Here is the death notice:-
The Glasgow Herald, Monday, April 16th., 1945. Death notice:-
"SMITH.- At Shelburne, Cardross, on 14th April, 1945, Ian Orr Smith, in his 84th year, son of the late William and Ann Smith, Cairnbaan.- Funeral to-morrow (Tuesday), to Glasgow Crematorium, Western Necropolis; friends desirous of attending please meet cortŤge at Crematorium, at 3 p.m.; no flowers, please."
P.S. Sent you as an edit the death notice for Neil Smith. If I come across Margaret's I'll do likewise but have had no success so far.

What I omitted to say below - My pleasure, KF. Glad to hear it was of some help.
There's also a death notice for Ian Orr Smith, I see, but no memorial. Let me know if you want the notice.

We do have quite a bit in common! Besides the middle school connection, I have become fascinated with the English lead miners and where they lived. I have some direct ancestors who were lead miners, and one even came to CA for the gold rush and settled not far from where we live, near Sacramento.
When I was in Southwest Wisconsin, I found some of their graves at Shawnee Cemetery in New Diggings, Wisconsin, where most everyone came from Swaledale. I took pictures of quite a few others, then went home to try to see if they were relatives. Instead I ended up connecting about half the people buried there to my family - some very distant relatives, but related just the same. Some Fawcetts are at Shawnee, and some even came to CA for the gold rush in 1849. If you go to the Shawnee website, you will see a lot of familiar names like Coates and Richardson from Swaledale:
I was looking for a certain Ann Spensley from Durham in my tree. After finding your John and Ann, I read the marker inscription and decided they were not related to me. But then I noticed that all 4 were in the same cemetery, parents and children. So I sent the connection to you. Not in depth research. I tried to find out Ann's maiden name, but no luck with that. Oh well. So many Spensleys, such little time!!

Birth and death dates taken by a cemetery survey in the early 1990s are different from the ones you have on the memorial pages. Are you related to this family? If not, I can send dates.
Thank you so much for all of your efforts to photograph that grave. You've gone above and beyond! Don't worry about it and don't use valuable time off work to do anymore. I appreciate your efforts but you've done enough. Thank you!
