Welcome to one of my favorite sites on the Web. My name is Sharon and I live in New Jersey. My mom and grandpa instilled the love of cemeteries in me at an early age. They spent a lot of weekends decorating and remembering those who passed. My mom was the reason I found the site, she loved reminiscing about the stars of the 30's and 40's. When she passed away in 2000, I found the non famous side of FAG. |
The family names I am researching, or trying too, are Preston, Gorman, McGlothlin, Walker, Hickey, MacDonald, and Slavin.
I have a few soft spots pets, kids, and Vets. I come from a family that served our country proudly. My grandpa fought in WWI and WWII for which I am extremely proud. My mom was a VFW Ladies Aux member, president and district President and I was a member of their Junior Unit as well as a Auxiliary memeber since I was 16. I love our country and the men and woman that fought for it. May God Bless and keep them always.
As I search for more of my family, I thought I would start adding names and stones from my family cemetery Cedar Lawn in Paterson, New Jersey. If you are a relative or friend and want me to update, remove, or turn over the memorial to you. Please just email me and I'll do whatever is needed.
If you would like to contact me, please put Find A Grave in the subject so I know its not spam. If you can help update my memorials with information, pictures, or just a story about the person, please let me know and I will add anything I can.
Dear friends I just want everyone to know I am taking a bit of a break from the site. Not that I don't love it and think of it as a wonderful place but need some time away.

|Alice Morton||Hi Sharon|
I just wanted to let you know I am so glad you finally found your father's resting place. I
see his page every once in awhile and wondered
I have a great Grandfather that we believe died and
is buried in either Oregon or Washington. Have no idea what happened to him..after reading your message I will not give up hunting..
|Dana D||RE: James W Preston Info|
I will have to ask my grandmother if she knows where he is buried. It would be either Hartford or New Haven, but I can't quite remember which. As for a picture, I'm fairly certain she has a few of him, one in particular I can recall. When next I am in CT, I will have to swing by her house to see what she did with it. I just put an app on my phone that allows me to essentially scan items using the camera function on my phone, so I will definitely be able to send it to you!
That's wonderful about the headstone! I will have to tell my grandmother! She likes to stay on top of everything that I find out. In fact, the information you posted helped to solve a huge mystery for her. She had her grandfather John's birth certificate, and there wasn't any info listed for James, merely that he was born in England, so thank you so much for posting everything!
Let me know if I can help with anything else. I have managed to track the family back a few generations in England, although I am now stuck at George Preston (b. abt 1762), and he's proving difficult to surpass, so I'm attempting to determine which line of Prestons the family descended from.
