Would you mind if I copy the cemetery photo to my family tree? Thank you for your consideration.

Hi, I have entered the parents of Samuel Daymond as you suggested. As far as I know there are no find-a-grave memorials for his parents. They died in England. Are you a relative? How did you know who his parents were? You may e-mail me directly at mrskonrad@yahoo.com.

RE: Obed and Betsy Gilder
Thanks, he's my 3rd ggrandfather, so I have notes on the others in my family but he's in a big blank space! Will investigate the other trees on Ancestry, thanks so much!

Obed Gilder/Betsy Gunn Gilder burial
Hi Bonnie, I see that you transcribed most (if not all) of the Gilders in the Gustavus Center Cemetery. Do you happen to know if Obed (Obadiah and Chloe Bushnell Gilder's son) and Betsy Gunn Gilder are there too? In my notes, I have the Kinsman Library records as reference for all of the others, but not Obed. I didn't know if you had a transcription of this cemetery or not.

Dear Bonnie,

Thank you for your timely notification about this Duplicate. Should you query pretty much any cemetery in the Shenandoah Valley since 25feb2015 and for the foreseeable future you will find thousands to tens of thousands of Duplicate memorials. A brief history of the current problem follows.

Long story short, or as short as I can make it. 'Jackie & Warren' of VaGenWeb Cemetery and Tombstone Project(s), over a number of years memorialized some 47,122 give or take folks centered in the Shenandoah Valley and if I recall, also into WV, MD, and possibly southwestern PA, under the F-A-G Contributor name of 'stars&bars', a nod to their hobby of being Civil War Confederate Reenactors, and have some type of antique shop in Boyce, Va, if memory serves me right.

Well, it seems a combination of events somehow casued them to 'sour' on F-A-G about 2 years ago, right about the time I offered Linking info for one of my great-uncles. In that same message I had surmised that with all the memorials they had added, there must have been tens to hundreds of hand written edit/correction messages from newer, enthusiastic FAGers eager to enhance their relatives memorials with all kinds of data, and the task must have gotten out of hand as their Contributor Bio went through several changes, each time getting more terse and combative, so I offered to assist them in any way I could, should they accept my help. I had specifically offered to assist by offering to manage any number or group of their memorials, either by surname or cemetery, should they wish.

Several days later I queried my great-uncle's memorial number to see if they had Linked him to his relatives, only to find the Find A Grave computer replied 'MEMORIAL NOT FOUND'! I thought that was in rather poor taste and made note of it and within several days decided to note their activity, specifically Memorials Added and Managed. I began to notice a slowly increasing decline of their memorials in both categories. I found that other FAGers were having the same problem. At varying times aparently a number of us affected FAGers contacted F-A-G staff and finally, sometime last year F-A-G staff acted and placed 'stars&bars' on 'suspension', after they had Deleted about 25% of their memorials, destroying all the Links, and losing all those tombstone photos, and heartfelt 'flowers' and note of remembrance! Well, they must have talked their way out of their suspension at some point, and then from what I heard from another FAGer, 'all 'heck' broke loose'. They went on a rampage and when it was all over, had Deleted all but about some 7,000 memorials as noted by the same FAGer.

There was such an uproar that F-A-G 'had' to do something! On Wednesday, 25feb2015, F-A-G reloaded essentially all the Deleted 'stars&bars' memorials and placed them under one or more F-A-G staffers as Contributor 'ProgramMgr' as Managed By. Originally, on Wednesday, the Created By: still noted 'stars&bars'. By Thursday, the Created By ID had been changed to 'stars&bars' assigned Contributor #.

Well, as you can expect, 'ProgramMgr' has a 'monumental' challege on his/her/their hands, as the re-entered memorials are much more complete and Linked, etc. It will take a very astute Information Technology programming wizards to Merge the basic memorials that 'stars&bars' were known for with the enhanced later memorials we all re-entered!

We figure it will be several months before everything gets ironed out. In the mean time, all we can do is, document those we come across and any enhancements we need to make and wait to see how it all shakes out.

Thank you for all your Find A Grave efforts and I look forward to interacting with you again as fate allows.

Always, in Find A Grave brother/sisterhood,
