Lyle R. “Jumpy” Brooks, 82, of Erie, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 30th at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home preceded by a Masonic Lodge Service at 3:30 PM. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, rural Erie. Memorials may be made to the Erie United Methodist Church or the Erie Masonic Lodge #667.

Lyle Richard Brooks, known by most as “Jumpy”, was born May 20, 1933 in rural Erie, Illinois, the son of Harold & Ethel Brooks. He graduated from Erie High School in 1951. He married Margo Davis on June 14, 1959 in the Kewanee United Methodist Church. They were longtime members of the Erie United Methodist Church. Together they raised their 4 wonderful sons, and are the proud grandparents of seven.

Lyle joined the Erie Masonic Lodge in 1970 and was a Past Master, serving in 1975, 84’, 94’ and 03’. He was also a lifetime member and served in many of their Officer roles. He was the Erie Township Road Commissioner for 12 years. Lyle worked for John Keeler Construction, Moline for 15 years. In 1973 he started Brooks Excavating in Erie. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment – his work was his hobby. For 25 years, he played Santa Claus in Erie. Lyle also loved going up to the Pink Pony for afternoon coffee with the guys.

He leaves to celebrate his life his wife of nearly 57 years, Margo Brooks; 4 sons, Brian (Angie) Brooks, Bruce Brooks, Bradley (Pam) Brooks, Kyle Brooks (Traci Mask), all of Erie; and 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Brianna, Brennan and Blake Brooks, Zackary Vilmont and Rylee Melton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Arlyn and Esther Brooks; and twin sister Marjorie in infancy.

Adding Children to Memorial
I have two memorials, #113996644 and #113996665, for Friedrich and Sophie Puetsch Doehrmann. This couple had two other children not listed on their memorial, and I wasn't sure if they could be added now with a link to their memorial. First is Frederick Conrad Doehrmann, #113996639, (your creation) (also wife Sophie, son Melwin, and daughter Dollene W and Verenon E Schocker who do not have a memorial - buried at St. Paul's in Wheatland). The second child and family to add is Christian (Chris) W E Doehrmann, #125777618, wife Dora, #125777584, dau Luetta W, and Elmer Klahn, # 123782634 and #123782588, Klahn son to add is Don E Klahn, #104899873. (Christian, Dora, Luetta, Elmer were created by someone else, and Don died out of state so his is also by someone else. I understand if it isn't possible, but thought I would check.

Wrong photo for Sarah Martin
Find A Grave Memorial #107545864:
I question the tombstone photo on the memorial for Sarah Dove Martin. She married Fayette Martin but the tombstone says Nathan Martin. She died 1879 not 1864 as on the tombstone. Guess you should remove it. Sorry about the inconvenience. Nice and greatly appreciated work otherwise! Joyce

Question about 6192943
The headstone is for Henry and Dora Goldensoph, and Louis and Augusta Dohse. Do you know if this is a memorial erected later, or are Louise and Augusta buried there? I have been unable to find any records of Louis and Augusta Dohse after they arrived in America in 1873, and all their teenage daughters were working as servants in Chicago on the 1880 Census.

Thank you Michael for photographing my Great Grandparents headstone.
While researching the Otto/Ryner branches of my tree,I have come across a number of other photos you have taken, at three cemeteries in the area, so far.
I appreciate all you do for the find a grave community.
