Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have lived my entire life in the metropolitan Quad Cities area of Illinois and Iowa along the Mississippi River. I retired several years ago so now I finally have time to work on my family history.

I am most intent on getting as many of my family members from my family tree added and connected then add as many as possible buried in local cemeteries starting with Hampton Township Cemetery and Zion Lutheran up on the hill then the other Hampton Township cemeteries; Homeland, Bowlesburg and Carbon Cliff, then on to other local Illinois Quad City cemeteries.

I'm not interested in building an empire of memorials for the sheer sake of numbers as some people seem to be, as I'm much more lax over turning them over to family members. If they are your relatives and not mine then just ask, tell me your relation and they are yours.

Also keep in mind, if I cannot contact you then don't ask me to do anything for you. Either have your messages enabled or an e-mail available, no exceptions. It is so frustrating when I have a question about an edit and I can't contact the person who sent it.

And please don't contact me and tell me I can't post obits because someone has said they have a copyright, they don't. When I post an obit I name the paper and I put it in parenthesis. Also, please do not contact me and tell me to remove census records from the memorial as that is the history of their life and no matter how "unappealing" it looks to some people, as long as it is under my management, it will remain.

I have spent many hours going thru every name in both the Biographical Record of Rock Island County, 1897 and the Portrait and Biographical Album of Rock Island County, 1885 to find matching memorials already in Find A Grave and when found these are added or sent to the owner of the memorial in hopes they will add the information to their memorial to not only give information on their lives but to assist other people in helping connect or create memorials.

My grand-niece AJ has been helping me on this, especially taking all the headstone photos for me.

Primary Family lines of interest:

Secondary Family lines of interest:

Hampton Township Cemetery, Hampton, IL and other 3 Hampton township cemeteries in Silvis, Barstow and Carbon Cliff, IL
Zion Lutheran, rural East Moline, IL
Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL

I post my photos on FAG to share & help others with piecing together their own family trees. I am also not possessive of my photos & share them unconditionally, with everyone.

Bob, Very interesting write up. I've visited the Old Sachem Burial ground. Unfortunately there aren't any readable grave stones. I am a direct descendant of Thomas Rood and Sarah L.W. Rood. I have recently had my DNA done by Ancestry. I show no Indian blood Mohican or otherwise. I was really hoping for something that interesting.

Clarence Thomas Ward
Thank you for all the great information on the Ward family who had many members buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Henry County, Illinois.
Question: I haven't found any records from Clarence Thomas Ward's childhood connecting him to Joseph and Anna (French) Ward. In fact, Clarence is not listed on their 1880 Census Report. There is a boy named Frank who was born in 1875 as was Clarence but no mention of Clarence. I am hoping that you could supply me with a record indicating his parents' names. Thank you.

I also found a Clarence Ward, Sr in Oakwood Cemetery. I wonder if he was related to young Clarence.

Thank for your help in this regard.

We disagree with your request to delete the memorial for her in Evergreen Cemetery, Phillips, Maine. Her actual burial is noted in the bio section and the memorial has been submitted to FindaGrave to be flagged as a cenotaph. Because it is a cenotaph, it is appropriate to have the memorial in this cemetery under Find A Grave guidelines.

Ernest Spindle - Follow Up Message

I sent you an "Other Correction" edit last night re your "Burial Unknown" memorial for Ernest Spindle, # 118967846.

I have since discovered someone else has created Ernest's memorial in the cemetery he is buried in (# 54802484). It was created 3 years earlier than yours.

I hope you will delete your memorial to reduce confusion regarding Ernest's burial location.

Thank you,
Vicki Edwards

Georgia L. Callas Photo
You have a headstone photo in Riverside Cemetery on Memorial# 29742358 Georgia L. Callas (1914-2007) that is actually for Georgia Callas (1924-1997). I have added the correct headstone photo and was wondering if you would please remove your photo from the memorial. It makes the memorial a little confusing.

Thank you for your dedication and work.

Gloria Jean Rummels
Hi, Bob and AJ. Thank you so much for transferring management of my aunt's page to me. Her name is Dorothea Mae "Rummels" Jones. Please take a look at her page. It broke my heart just to see her grave, but no write up about her because she was an amazing lady. I was wondering if you can please transfer my aunt Gloria Jean Rummels page. I would like to do the same thing for her. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.
