Each time I create a memorial I delight in thinking that it may someday provide comfort to a loved one or valuable information to a genealogist. |
It is great to find a memorial for a loved one and, from personal experience, if there are photos the experience is FABULOUS!
Transfers - Please use the "Edit" tab on the memorial, send a "Suggest a Correction" including your "ID number". I'm more than happy to transfer memorials to their RELATIVES.
If FAMILY MEMBERS wish to have a memorial deleted I will do so, no questions asked.
FAG asks that we avoid creating "pre-need" memorials for obvious reasons. Pre-need memorials may unnecessarily distress and confuse the person's family and friends.
Some dates/names on the headstones are hard to read. If you can help, please click the Edit tab at the top and send me a message. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated in the completion of "Unknown" and incomplete memorials.
Linking family members is great and I will add any FAG approved data to memorials. Although, I think it would be wonderful to provide FULL obituaries and obituary photos for future generations to discover, and cherish, FAG has a rule to the contrary. FAG is the host and I respect its rules. Some of my memorials have obits and I am deleting them as I find them.
From FAG RULES & REGS:
NOTE THE FOLLOWING: In regard to duplicates, a memorial with a correct known burial location will always be preferred over an unknown burial location. MORE THAN ONCE I HAVE BEEN ADMONISHED AND INSTRUCTED TO DELETE A MEMORIAL CREATED FROM A HEADSTONE PHOTO. "FLOATER" MEMORIALS, OR A MEMORIAL CREATED IN THE WRONG CEMETERY, OBVIOUSLY DO NOT HAVE PRIORITY UNDER FAG RULES.
Please note, I will NO LONGER delete photos on memorials I created that are managed by someone other than a "family member" as defined by FAG. Requests of this nature are a waste of my time and offensive.
In an effort to avoid offending other contributors I do not add photos to memorials created minus pictures, until at least 3 months after "creation", without requesting prior permission. Three months should be sufficient time for the creator to "finish" the memorial, if they have headstone photos. I assume all FAG contributors are here for altruistic reasons and that those with memorials without photos would appreciate assistance.
Please do not upload ADDITIONAL headstone photos to memorials I created, or manage.
I would like to thank the Vulcan & District Historical Society for giving me access to all of the Vulcan County Cemetery records and the amazing support of my main contact in that group. WOW!!!!
The Alberta Genealogical Society - Lethbridge Branch's gave me access to its Mountain View Cemetery records so unmarked graves and grave locations could be added to FindAGrave. AGS (Lethbridge) has a phenomenal amount of info on file including neatly catalogued obituaries - please support them, if possible. Thanks to all AGS members!!
Volunteers spend countless hours photographing/ creating memorials and appreciate knowing their efforts are appreciated. I know I do.

Hi there, I received your suggestion about adding Fred's spouse - however, Ruth Stalker was not his wife, she was Fred's wife's sister. Fred's wife, my grandmother, is alive and well. :)

Thanks for that information. I may just remove them in time. I have no other information on those site at this time.
Thank you for all the photo's you've taken for me in Cardston. I tried to get a group of them together to reduce time and travel. This will enhance a lot of my ancestors memorials.

Thanks for your reply. I had a friend who is in Canada to ring them up for me. I have details on Frederick. He is buried in the "Old Rugged Cross garden" in lot 207 - space c in Mountain View cemetery. I think Violet would be next to him. Its not a headstone but a bronze plaque inlaid in the ground.
